Is growth of Twitter, Facebook etc. leading to decrease in traffic to A4U forums?

Only now started using Twitter and discovered that half the people that used to post on the A4U forums are Twittering every day.

Do you think sites like Twitter and Facebook are or will lead to a decrease in usage of these forums? (As somebody who has probably spent as much time on A4U as anybody out there and visits it at least 360 days a year, it would sadden me to see the decline in usage of these fabulous forums )

must admit I'm not visiting as often as I used to - although I'm still visiting very often - but there's definately a reduction in entertaining posts by the 'old timers' - which is a great shame.

It might be true of the old timers, but there is constant stream of newbies on forum.
I used to twitter a lot but getting bored of that too

I've always been a bit behind with the times... currently catching up on TV programs from 1993 which I haven't had a chance to watch.

Il second that one. Lots of spam and newbies (although thats a good thing) and not many of the "old guard" are hear anymore.

I got told off last week because i put a joke post up and it wasn't about affiliate marketing.

I miss the comedy element guys.... really do.

Why is Twitter such a big deal? I keep hearing about it. I use Facebook but it is mainly for family and friends. I don't know how I can use it for family and then also use it to promote my business. I guess I am behind the times when it comes to that. I just have so many pictures of my children on Facebook, and I'm not so sure that I want everyone in the world to be able to view them. I don't know how to mix the two. Maybe I am just being paranoid. Does anyone use the same Facebook account for family as well as networking to potential customers?

You can set up a 'Page' just for your business and it will not link into your public FB.

This is my 'Page' for my Harriers Online website Harriers Online | Facebook and when I update it never shows up on my personal FB and there is no link to it on there either.

I guess A4U is a web hosting forum while twitter and facebook are Social Networking site

I have them too but If I m not really here it is more that I am in other forums and not because of Twitter and Facebook as they are another criteria
