Re: Tweetdock - Targeted Twitter Marketing

I would unfollow anyone that I suspected using this. I think its great but Twitter should be left for real conversation and not spammed with ads.

    Hi FanBoyNYC,

Have you given the software a chance by signing up and taking a look?

Its not a tool to encourage spam. Its a tool to encourage targeted marketing, by only sending messages to highly targeted keywords such as "big blue widgets" in London.

I have not and I wont. I want to keep my Twitter account for me talking to my friends and tweeps not some machine spitting "highly targeted keywords". I really do not intend to this be a personal attack but the whole concept in general is ruining the very involved and real conversion on Twitter.

Which is your perfectly valid view of the twitter system, but, it can be many things to many people, alternatively, you can find people with the same interests as yours and grow your circle of involved and real conversation with this tool. Its a brilliant idea :tup
If you build it, they will come. Then what?

Looks good and I'm giving it a test. The only thing is it's not clear whether I can input multiple words and phrases for ONE campaign in each field and should they be seperated with spaces/commas, etc. I really do not want to set up multiple campaigns just to accommodate multiple phrases for essentially the same message.

The other things is, I didn't realise you can actually click the campaign name to view a report - you may want to make that clearer.

Reagrding Fanboys concerns, I do see what you're saying but I don't just see pure, intelligent conversation on Twitter, there's loads of promotion going on plus blog feeds being fed via Twitter too. It's like anything, you abuse it you get a bad name, you use it wisely it can be positive.

Is this service still up and running?

The implications of this servcie are quite clearly HUGE!

I was wondering though, has anybody tracked results from this? Like numbers? How many people click through if you leave a link etc.

for the "all of these words" field, the message will have to have all of those words for the reply to be sent

for the phrase, its just one phrase per campaign at the moment. we will look into the ins and outs of changing that.

yes, if you click the campaign name, it will show you a list of all the message that you have replied to.

I need to get my finger out and write a more comprehensive faqs. im thinking of making some video tutorials aswell, what are peoples thoughts on them? reckon they can be pretty useful?

we've had a lot of our users get in touch to say they are very happy with the service and it is working brilliant for them. hopefully a few of them will post their findings on here.

id tell you how my campaigns are getting on, but i think it would be more trusted coming from some inpartial users lol!

we're working on the payment structure for using the system at the moment, looking like we will be starting to charge for the service in a couple of weeks, you will all be given plenty of notice via email though, dont worry!

so, if you havent signed up yet, now would be the best time to sign up, as its COMPLETELY FREE!

    Hi hairycornflakes

Thanks for the quick and comprehensive reply!

I think I a going to give it a try since it is free at the moment, and try and gather some hard data. Hopefully I'll get back to this thread with some cool results.

After having received a few of these targetted automessages, I have some advice for anyone using tweetdock.

    • Don't be boring! Visit my site at blahblahblah, thats a nofollow for me.
    • Don't just send a link to your site, or another site! Most people will click the link in your profile anyway, if you seem interesting.
    • Do use the twitter account with which you post your day-to-day tweets. There's nothing more offputting than checking a users profile to find that all they say to anyone, is the same thing they said to you in a variety of different ways. Tweeple aren't stupid, they can spot a bot a mile away.
    • If you must send everyone to your site, at the very least, display, on your site, the fact that you're on twitter, that closes the circle.

In summary, make sure you have lots of different messages, and, I mean at least 20, and that they don't all have a link in.

    Suggestion;

"Hi, I see you're interested in 'keyword/s or phrase', me too, lets connect on 'broad category', nice to tweet you."
If you build it, they will come. Then what?

    great post scriptmonkey :tup

id like to agree heavily with a few points...

    - add as many replies as you can humanly think of.
    - the best way to use the system (imho) is to try and get as many followers as possible. so think of it as a long term plan, rather than a "get them to click my link now" plan. so the more people you talk to, the more followers you get. then, tweet the odd marketing message here and there and they will get picked up by your followers

Another good method (which kitbag are using) is to message people who mention your site. obviously this isnt going to work ifyour site is called bananas.com but if you have a unique site name, then message people who talk about your site, something along the lines of...

"i see you were talking about us, incase you didnt know, we're on twitter, so come say hello!"

something like that, and as always add as many replies to each campaign as possible
