The messages sent would follow this format "RT @yourtwittername - your marketing message - your website address" and anything else that fits into both your requirements and 140 characters.
I have a twitter account with around 1,200 highly targetted followers in the fashion vertical , and growing by around 150 a day. As well as a few other accounts in different verticals.
I was thinking about setting up a system whereby you could hire these accounts to send a message to these followers, say once an hour, or once a day for a weekly fee of £3 or something like that. Does this idea have wings? Anyone interested in me developing this?

I think you might loose followers if they get spammed with too much junk. You'd probably get people interested who want to create buzz, but if/when the followers found out, they'd probably unfollow.

Good point Dan, so maybe, the once an hour idea is a little too spammy, but, perhaps once a day or 3-4 times a day might be sufficiently relaxed to not trigger a mass unfollow.

You might be best off having a system where you moderate the requests for tweets. Then issue invoices for each tweet to the requester. (per tweet rather than all at once, as you might get issues with people not paying).

I see, so, something along the lines of.
1 Message to 1,500 followers in whichever vertical - price £1 per message payable in advance?
I've had a few takers who have paid for a once-daily message, so far the number of followers across the accounts are still increasing on average by 100 a day, so its not too offputting.

I personally wouldnt do this as just like another poster mentions '...spam' yes you will loose most of your follower s so I wouldnt advise you to do it.
I see where you're coming from blackpooluk, but, this isn't the case, they're not spam messages of the kind that are rife on twitter, they don't offer the moon on a stick, they're targetted to the interests of the followers, which is why they're followers in the first place.
Folk who follow the fashion account, now standing at 2,255, are genuinely interested in fashion.
The digital camera account, with a following of 1,433 is both interesting and informative.
Gamblers are interested in the meanderings of the gambling account with 1,872 followers and so on.
I have around 70 customers who are reporting success with their adverts, furthermore, the accounts are still growing by an average of 100 followers a day, and, if people are leaving, then plenty more are replacing them.
All in all its a success and most definitely not spam.
