I have been 'invited' to become a fan of a particular facebook page.... for a fairly broad item of clothing.
I didn't pay much interest until I saw that it had got 220,000 fans having only been created a week before!
The more I think about it, the more it seems the person who created the page is in it for their own gain, not just for fun, but I can't see how they will benefit. There are no links, no ads, nothing as yet. Maybe they will start to inject a few links later, I don't know.
How could you monetise a Facebook fan base of several hundred thousand people? Can you post affiliate links, or links to your own AM website?

thanks..... yes i thought that was a lot too.
i've gone for it and created a page related to one of my sites - got 100 people so far so a long way to go, but i guess it should be exponential growth really. well, that's what i'm hoping!
Oh, I didn't realise there was a difference. Anyway, the ones sent from a "group" do go to the inbox. But maybe pages are different.

i've seen a few merchants prevent you from putting affiliate links in social networking sites - is that common place?
