What twitter tools are worth looking at?
Can you archive twitter material easily?

    Any good guides on twittering?

Tweet Deck is probably the best application to use for twitter:

    TweetDeck

Tweetie is worth a look if you're using a Mac and/or iPhone/iPod touch.

I looked at tweetdeck and wasn't sure what it was.
I can browse internet on my pc and phone already so what do I need it for?

I think what I meant was the gadgets to display your twitter feed (or a feed of your choice) on your own website...

If you are using Wordpress, you can add your Twitter RSS Feed to your site by using the RSS Widget in the 'Appearance' settings section.

Have a look at the examples on my PS3 Slim site.

Personally, I've been enjoying Co-Tweet. You can manage multiple accounts, set scheduled tweets, it has bit.ly integrated, and you can assign roles to other users (great if you are running a campaign with a team, for clients, etc...).

I've recently started using Ping.fm / Update all of your social networks at once! which seems rather good as it lets me post to Twitter, Facebook Pages and my Bloggs all at once.

You could have a look through The Best Twitter Tools and Twitter Apps - oneforty

You'll probably find something suitable for your uses in there.
