    I need to increase friends so that when I update my status (product) more people will be tapped..

    But I have been clicking ADD friend, one by one..
    is there a faster way to do this? Or is it the only way--Im aiming to add a thousand..

    I'm sure there is software out there you can use to add lots of friends on Facebook or follows lots of people on Twitter in one click, but I know Twitter has clamped down on these tools - most of the time they're against their terms of service.

    But really, if you're looking to promote your products, adding a big bunch of random people probably isn't the way to go. It sounds like a good idea, but most of the time, social media isn't worth your trouble unless you use it properly.

    I'd suggest promoting your Twitter/Facebook account in parallel to your one-by-one following. Build up your profile, and make it attractive to people, and hopefully you'll start to get natural followers, which are much more valuable than followers/friends you've mined.

    Hope that makes sense!

    If you want to suggest (invite) a group/fanpage to a lot of people then paste this code into the url bar once you have clicked on suggest and the lightbox is showing.

    javascript:elms=document.getElementById('friends') .getElementsByTagName('li');for(var fid in elms){if(typeof elms[fid] === 'object'){fs.click(elms[fid]);}}

    Saves a lot of time.

    Buzzom used to be really good but it is no longer allowed access to the Twitter API. I think the best way now is to find lists of accounts that follow back when you follow them.

    twiends.com can do both... All you have to do is follow other people on twitter. You then get credits which go into getting new followers yourself or "likes" on your facebook page.

    Hannah is spot on.

    What is the point of adding numerous new friends that will not even look at what your offering. Social media is interactive and that means that you need to bring people into the fold by offering something that interests them. By doing that, you will see a far better return from the social aspect.

    Very good answers, here.

    Yes there is trick out there which not many businesses and even individuals take advantage of it, but they all keep talking about it; make your content relevent and have a communication strategy for your Social Media. Some big brands use ghoast writing, multiple accounts to support their main one etc. Keep ethics and ettiquet in mind when using Social Media then your followers/fans organically increase - this is targeted audience for your business, which is profitable in long-run.

    there's a soft "facebook friend adder" or something like that. But if you want to make your profile very popular, post interesting content and add your friends manually

    Great advice. Having un-targeted or bought friends is not going to help very much in terms of bringing in direct traffic or conversions. Furthermore, it runs the risk of FB/Twitter picking up on your activities, or people who really are interested in what you are offering identifying what you are doing and thinking you aren't trustworthy.

    It is hard to build up an audience, but the pain will be worth the gain, and the tactics you have to think up to do it will also benefit any current customers you have. If you make a page on Facebook you can serve ads to very precise demographics on FB that will bring users to your page, and these will be people who are actually interested. I've found Facebook ads, in the right areas, to be good ROI when tracked through to the site and conversion.

    With facebook take a look at groups, searches, find your product. Add those who have liked a product or something similar to what you are offering. Although Adding people is quite annoying, and I know I decline people but if you can make pages people would like and prove popular you could use that? Not sure on rules though mass adding people is probably not allowed
