    Hi,

I've been seeing a couple of Facebook apps recently offering free credits for additional features as long as the user signs up via an affiliate link (eg an online survey). Once you sign up to the survey they then credit your account with a number of credits to use in the app. I understand why they're doing it, but I can't figure out how.

Is there any way of knowing what user/session id has signed up for which survey? Is this something that certain affiliate networks offer that I don't know about?

I can see the benefits outside of Facebook too, for example more detailed reporting on which clicks result in a sale and for how much.

    Cheers

Affiliate networks generally offer you the option to add an additional parameter to your links to let you track traffic in this way. It's called various things depending on the network - sub id, click id etc. Affiliates who use an incentive system will automatically assign each user a unique identifier which is then sent through in the links so that they can know who signed up for what.

Thanks for that. Didn't realise that's what you could do with the click id thing. I guess I've got to use the network's API to pull that data back out to stop it being a major manual process.

    Thanks again
