A few weeks ago I was planning on writing a blog about the potential Squidoo has to help affiliates generate both traffic and revenue.

However Jamie Birch, Director of Affiliate Relations for Converseon, Inc summarises the points very well in his article.

This page especially displays the potential of niche marketing within social media by affiliates.

Totally agree about the potential for affiliates Matt. Funnily enough I was searching for an item on Google today and within the top 10 results was a Squidoo page based around the product I was looking for.

Can see this being a great way of building quality links to your sites as well as gaining a wider audience through your area of nichepertise (to coin a new word)

i have been using Squidoo as a way of linking back to my sites for some time now. I noticed lenses appearing in the rankings and checked it out.

    The laptop lens is brilliant.

For those that fancy a pop at it, put aside a good hour or so to make your first lens. It's a bit of a maze at first but it DOES work.

Really like Squidoo, we've been using on an SEO project for a client, early days but links are indexed, and lens is already rated high in its niche. Theres some clever commercial opportunities on there as well for the canny

    Interesting thread

So can I create a Lens about anything, even my web site and clearly self promote this?

Are Squidoo users ok with that

    Thanks

    Hi Stuart

Squidoo seems to far more commercially favourable than many other 2.0 systems. However we've found that after a few trials our squidoo pages are outranking our clients pages. I assume its because of the way that the pages interlink as we;ve done no external promotion of it.

Stuart - This link is clearly pure affiliate marketing, so I suppose the answer is yes .. until the SEs devalue the link. having said that, the important factor is surely relevance - as always.

I did not realise the potential of squidoo till I read this post. Now, it's still a littl jumble up. Can anyone briefly explain to me the benefits of Squidoo. Sorry to trouble you guys but I would really like to find out more about Squidoo. Thanks.

Is Squidoo still good for google ranking etc. I heard that google has re rated squidoo pages, and also links have no follow on from squidoo?
Has anyone done a page in last month, and what kind of results can you expect.

I fear I missed the boat on this one.

I've just added the following lens as a test so I'll let you know how it goes.

Plantronics Voyager 520 - Bluetooth Wireless Headset on Squidoo

The lens mention in my earlier post (not mine) is now on a PR2.

Best Bluetooth Headset For 2007 on Squidoo

I know PR isn't the be-all but my point is that it's obviously being indexed by Google and by allocating it a PR they are not against pages like this.

We've found Squidoo to be remarkably effective in creating traffic sources between our lens and our relevant site page.

The backlink value seems to be of a good quality, although i too had read that Google had issued a bit of a slap to Squidoo pages - however, i think it was only lenses that were blatantly spammish!

    All the best,

    Alf
