Ya, that is the power of Social Networking.

At the beginning of July, the sweet brand Skittles paid a six-figure sum to set up a profile on the social networking site Bebo which has already been viewed more than 50,000 times and attracted more than 3,500 "friends". In an interview with the Guardian, a Bebo spokesman described these "friends" as "brand ambassadors".
Ya, that is the power of Social Networking.
I'm hoping that doesnt mean that we all have to invest 6figures to get adecent response from such a communication channel. As a stepping stone, I have set up Facebook pages to test the water and see what kind of movement there is in the network. What are peoples thoughts? I'm new to this game so advise is very much welcome

So they've got brand familiarity, but has that actually translated into solid sales, rather than a nice brochureware page? For six figures I'd have people stood outside the school gates offering money off vouchers at the local corner store - would get more return for the investment (and a nice warm cell in hell...)
Alas not everyone has the budget to get placed on the frontpage of MyFace or DigBo.
The other option of course, is hours and hours of social networking - physically adding people as contacts or "friends". Over the course of a week, allowing a set time every day, you would be surprised at how fast your contacts can mount up.
3500 MySpace friends could be accrued in a couple of weeks or less.
Of course the big secret is, once you've got them, what you going to do with them?![]()
I run a news website, and I use MySpace a lot to publish bulletin/blog posts, and I find the click thru rates are notoriously low. But if you can incorporate your product in your profile somehow (no javascripting allowed) that may be a better option.
MySpace blogs now have a social networking applet at the bottom of the page, so blogging on MySpace may be a good method for getting your material picked up and 'Dugg', or 'StumbledUpon' with a little trial and error.
Good luck

Businesses are starting to realize the power of social media and to me it is a no brainer. If you have a huge community of potential customers, it should be easy to see the potential. Lead the way or follow after profits start to dip and you need to reinvent yourself. You be the judge.
myhosting promo and top web hosts information goes hand in hand.
If they'd hung on they could have bought Bebo with that 6 figure sum
