Hey Gav,
Have a word with James as he uses this for his AffiliateManagement Blog site.
Cheers

update: By the looks of things it's got a bit out of control, lol. James what's going on?
Is anyone out there using WordPress µ (MU, Multiple User)? WordPress MU › Home
It's quite nifty, but a bit more difficult to use than usual WP. In particular a number of plugins struggle to work, but I'm quite liking it!
Any hints or tips?

... Apart from James who I've been in daily contact with! He's been helping me out a bit too. I'd like to think we've been swapping tips, but it's probably a bit one-sided.
I really quite like it actually, I don't know who makes all this OpenSource stuff, or how they are monetizing WP (something to do with Automattic I think) but good on 'em!
Cheers though Paul.
Which one of those is yours, Paul?![]()

I planned to introduce this to a site of mine and installed it all (eventually - its nothing like installing wordpress using fantastico!). However I was having problems with it clashing with the "main" function of the site.
I installed it using subdomains which meant the php index files clashed with the html files the rest of the site was built in. I've left it so far, but plan to make the rest of the site php compatible this month so will probably get back into it!
Why not just use Drupal, which handles multi users by default?
I like drupal, but I still find the setup of wordpress easier and there seems to be nicer themes and plugins out there.
It's not too hard - I setup Poker Users Portal » Home from scratch in about 5 hours.

I agree there are more and better Wordpress themes out there.. you really need to be willing to design and code your own themes for Drupal.. but as for your the plugins!? Are you having a laugh? The Drupal modules kick the Wordpress plugins to the moon and back!
But yes, Wordpress is easier to use out of the box.. except maybe for things like multi user setups![]()
Nice Poker site by the way.. very nice indeed..
5 hours James? And the rest... And all the help from me *cough*. Well, a wee bit of beta testing maybe.
It does look really good - we're doing something not entirely dissimilar, but can't think it'll be quite as nice as that. I've got to say I've never heard of Drupal, but needing lots of coding pretty much wouldn't work for us - I want users to be able to sort their own themes out etc.
I might have a race to see how quickly you can get Wordpress downloaded and installed - I think this has been done one a forum somewhere though.

I think I could get a wordpress install up and running in less than 5 minutes..

I can only confirm that, wordpress is the easiest to run. I have tried to build pages myself, Joomla and few others. But no one has been as easy as wordpress, there are lots of nice designs and plugins, I do not think that I could do it in 5 mins, but in a an hour or so and I am not good at it!

I have tried both Drupal , Wordpress and Joomla, and I have to agree that Wordpress is easier to setup and run then Drupal and it does indeed have more themes.
I prefer Drupal though because it is a better infrustructure, is truely modular and highely extensionable and has a much wider range of modules/plugins. You can have any kind of site running on Drupal and any site can have a wide range of features, all with the same platform. The kind of stuff going on in the Drupal community is somewhat ground breaking, and I think Wordpress has a long way to catch up. Although Wordpress is still good.
However, the one disadvantage of Drupal is that it is a coders CMS and it helps to be a coder to get the best of out it, although anyone can setup and run a good Drupal site.
Just my 2 cents worth, not that anyone asked for it.. ahhh, I'll get my coat and leave the room....![]()
I have used both drupal and wordpress. Drupal is definitly for the person with more coding knowledge although they do have a number of followers and are fairly well supported.
But Drupal is a content management system and Wordpress is a blogging system. To blog or not to blog that is the question. Thats my 2 cents. I will leave now too. Unfortunately I didnt bring my coat and I got WET :tup
