    Hiya,

I work on the social communication of two "do stuff get stuff" sites -
one of which is The Fair Exchange whereby members get rewarded for activity on the site and the other is the Free DVD Club, which, is what it is, a club that offers members a DVD free of charge with no postage and packaging payment in return for the completion of a short survey.

Social marketing is a massive topic at the moment with many different industry players making suggestions on where the channel is moving and how best to utilise it -

I am testing the water with Facebook fan pages for both sites to see what the reaction is to such propositions on a social side.

Any body have any further ideas - advertising on Forums is a no go - other than creating a blog section on our site I'm lost for ideas

    Help

    Thanks

I use facebook alot. You could set up a profile about you and link to all your products and display them on your profile page - you make clear to close family and friends that it is largely a 'public page' that may attract potential customers aswell, once on there you may well attract 'fan's' of your product or service - some fan's love to 'own' a piece of virtual place.

There's an app. called 'friends for sale' for example - I virtually own a couple of internet marketers, occasionally welknown youtuber's or musician's via that app. and myself and others often have bidding wars over them and you can buy them 'pets' aswell - why bother ? - well... you become a part of the facebook community and your face (and any details you give away on your profile - like what company you work for) also are taken into account - the more kudos your brand or personality you are seen to have the higher you go - it's viral marketing.

    RSS widgets
If you have RSS attached to your website or blog etc. you can get a free revshare widget called a 'Bliget' from a company called widgetbox.com the bliget maker is an easy to set up as say feedburner is, then your blog, youtube, website update content can be quickly embedded in to many social networks and customers can 'add this widget' to their own websites if they want - this Bliget can also be made into a facebook app. by wizard too - it's quite simple you just register on facebook as a developer and follow the instructions given by widgetbox:

On facebook (this is just an example app and isn't in the pulic directory yet but can be added as a demo.):
Latest jobs London - Gumtree Widget
    http://apps.facebook.com/londonjobs
    about page:
Latest Jobs In London | Facebook
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Bliget on widgetbox:
Widgetbox › New - Jobs in London Widget

Note: you can also create bebo apps. on widgetbox now too.

Another good way to promote is with a company called edeals. I use them for a white label service pigthis.co.uk - Cashback Shopping but if you add the services to them not only will you get promoted on their website but you will get promoted on all their white label partner websites.

I think its a great idea, te other way is to get some off-the-shelf social network software through someone like kwiqq (Dont forget to quote me Frank Dethridge hehe) and promote to your own members.

Also you can then monyties your social network with a dating elective..might sound cheesy but it works.

PM me if you want any more info, I have access to a database of around 21 million members world wide and around 5 million uk members so if you are looking into CPA then definatly drop me a line.

    Regards,

    Frank
