Just noticed this on the merchant page for the GM card I would have appreciated an email about it, but am sure I did not get one...
basically we can't use almost any keywords to gain traffic for the GM card such as :
credit card
gm card
online credit card
credit card offer
etc the list is endless and for several PPC engines so I am afraid that it's a case of bye..bye gm card or should I cease all my PPC traffic to please one merchat...errr nah,
can't understand why they want 100% of nowt instead of 90% of a lot but hey..it's up to GM if they think it will pay off..ahem..ooo look tumbleweed..

In the event of a merchant meglomania attack please break glass and drop the sucker..ahem
standard disclaimer:
This is the view me and no one else, any loss of earnings, divorce, baldness, low sperm count or pet obesity caused by lack of walkies whilst trying to refloat your empire can not be attributed to me as I am not of sound mind or body and am I mentally incapable of choosing between a big mac and a McChicken sandwich meal so tis up to you but I do know that if you just take what is pushed on ya then next time that's all that is there
online credit card is generic
Credit card is generic
Credit card offer is generic.
Look at trademarks and domain names.
Jess
maybe they think that GM stands for generic monopoly of keywords arf..
just read my TD newsletter and gm update was in it, ooops so i retract my "woulda been nice to get an email" statement and replace it with "shane should read his emails on the day they come"![]()
just a question for the TD staff if you care to share, were GM aware of the probable outcome of taking this stance ? cos I can't see how they expect to profit from it but then again I don't have a marketing degree to cloud my common sense. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT=":\">

Shane, you assume you can not bid on words like credit card, gm card etc but when I look at the GM FAQ all I see is a mass of words
credit card gm card online credit card credit card offer visa credit card low interest credit card apr best credit card credit card with low apr uk credit .... etc etc
without any punctuation.
So does that mean term credit card or credit card gm or credit card gm card etc etc. Affilaites are many things but we dont read minds !
GM of course have every right to ask us not to bid on GM trademark specific terms, ie GM card.
if they really do not want us to bid on generic terms, then an affililiate program is not for them. I can not see too many people taking the option of stopping bidding rather than removing them.
they seek it here
they seek it there
they seek it everywhere
but it aint on my sites anymore !!!
GM card.... you are the weakest link... goodbye
gonna add them to my new CC site but not make any major play of them.
Think this and other (i.e interflora) teaches us a leason: don't rely on CPC (or any other method) as the major source of traffic. Diversify into major SEO programmes and the great idea that NFS had. If you don't know about it you're not on the ball as much as you should.
Diversify risk accross, sites, CPC, SEO, tool...s etc.
But that still doesn't account for the idiotic attempts of merchants to corner their market. How big is the CC market? Chuffing huge so they should seek to work with affiliiates and not against them!
Just my 2p's worth!
Lee
Can now bid on PPC Terms as of today...
mmm think skateboarders call that a Kickturn.. i just prefer a simple 180 degrees U Turn...lol ..
glad they rethought it ...![]()
