    Important Notice from Books Direct

    ********************
    Reconciliation Books Direct
    ********************

    Dear Books Direct Affiliate,
You may recall a correspondence recently from us informing you about our planned reconciliation of successful sales on the TradeDoubler platform.

Basically, in the past we have credited sales in real time on your account and didn't subsequently debit the unsuccessful sales. We do have a percentage of sales which for various reasons result in unsuccessful memberships and we must account for these.

We have appended a reconciliation identifier to all URLs so that we can assess which sales are successful and which aren't. An example of this might be:
    Old Link: www.mango.co.uk/afftioli2
    New Link: www.mango.co.uk/afftioli2/?aff_id=TD (identifier)

You MUST have the new url was the target url on ALL your creatives/text links and e-shots with the aff_id=TD on the end. If you haven't updated Books Direct creatives in some time, you may have the wrong target url attached to them.

Banners that have been automatically refreshed will be correct. If you are in doubt, please test all your links to ensure they link to the correct URL for EACH club that you promote.

I will be emailing you again prior to Christmas to remind you of this, but please be aware that as of 1st of January 2003, if you do not have the correct url, you won't go through our reconciliation process and as a result will not get your commissions.

With the correct code in place, you will still be rewarded your usual commission from the 1st of January for all SUCCESSFUL applications.

Thank you for your continued promotion of our clubs.

    Kind Regards

    The Books Direct Team.

    Dear Affiliate,
    * Just a note about our Reconciliation Process.

The Books Direct Program is introducing a reconciliation process whereby the affiliate will be paid for ALL SUCCESSFUL book club applications which pass the Books Direct screening process.
A SUCCESSFUL book club application means a completed (i.e. once confirmation page is displayed) online application on one of Books Direct new member recruitment sites for membership of a Books Direct club from visitors who arrived on a Books Direct new member recruitment site directly from an Affiliate site and excludes applications rejected by Books Direct's screening process (e.g. duplicate users, those which are not UK based, those where registration fields have not been completed satisfactorily).
The reconciliation of applications will happen weekly and we will work to two weeks in arrears - meaning that affiliates will not be able to view applications in real time but rather every Friday the sales (applications) will be validated. Therefore an application made on Friday 4th of October will be reconciled two weeks later, meaning that the affiliate can then view which applications have become SUCCESSFUL.

Thanks for your continued interest in Books Direct,

    ::::::::::::::::::::::::::
    The Books Direct Team.

Just check that the "?aff_id=TD" is at the end when it goes to there url after clicking the tradedoubler link for etc "<a href="http://www.etsp.co.uk/aff2/?aff_id=TD"">www.etsp.co.uk/aff2/?aff_id=TD"</a> what there are trying too change is members using "&url=<a href="http://www.etsp.co.uk/aff2"">www.etsp.co.uk/aff2"</a> at the end of the tradedoubler link.

I don't approve of these screening processes, it leaves too much to the discretion of the merchant leaving both TD and the affiliate in the dark on who and who is not approved.

Will TD be able to check and verify all applications, because according to TD, in the instance of Alliance and Leicester, it is left to the merchants discretion, with we have provided one of a few transactions we know happened but did not receive commission for.

What is the purpose of tracking?

As for working in arrears, we find more and more merchants go through this process really do become complacent as time goes on.

Real inconvenience changing all the links at this time of year, we have over 500 links (less than others)..wonderful timing!

This is a load of cr*p. I just took down loads of dgm links and replaced them with TD. Now i've got to take all of them and change them again. On top of that i'm not sure i trust them any more than A&L.

If you've recently added TD links Carl, then they should be ok - It sounds as though it's only old text links that need to be changed.

There was nothing different about the links i changed to. I'd have noticed immediately if they'd changed.

Just tried your Buffy link, and that's fine, it's the URL that is loaded after the affiliate link is clicked that needs to have the ?aff_id=TD suffix.

I've only had time for a quick look, but get the impression that you're still displaying TSP links from DGM, rather than TD?

That's the big link accross the bottom? Yep if so, i didn't change them as BD are no longer having the space. They deserved it at one stage, i have better performers now.

There may be a few others, as Fh is the last site to be done, had so many problems with the damn thing since making changes i've not had a chance to complete it all.

So many pages! But that's the whole point, it takes hours, and even then i'll miss some!
