Hi,
as some of you are aware there were some issues with the reporting of multiple sales for each new account sign up.
All the sales removed were rightly removed but as a token of good will and commitment to all their affiliates Sporting Index and BetHiLo want to award an extra £5.00 per account sign up and betting punter (one bet) until the end of October.
Sporting Index - was £30.00 now £35.00
BetHiLo - was £15.00 now £20.00
The segments are being created and you will automatically be moved into the segment at midnight tonight.
If you have any queries regarding this please contact
nick.roveta@tradedoubler.com or

Thanks,
Nick

Sporting Index/BetHiLo repsonse on this issue:
The tracking in place for determining affiliate commissions is cookie-based. Every time a user clicks on a Sporting Index or BetHiLo banner / button / text link on your site, it leaves a Trade Doubler cookie on their PC. Then, when a user places a bet, a sale confirmation / commission will appear in your Trade Doubler account.
As you know, we pay £30 after 1 bet with Sporting Index and £15 after 1 bet with BetHiLo. For a sale to be confirmed, the customer must have opened an account via your site and placed a bet. However, the cookie only knows if a bet has been placed. It is not able to confirm the account-opening AND a bet.
When we check the commissions, we can see the account number and check that it has come via a Trade Doubler affiliate. If so, we are more than happy to pay. If the account was opened via another source, then naturally we have to pay that source.
However, we have had a problem whereby commissions were being recorded on every bet. ie commissions were being correctly awarded for the 1st bet. However, when users were placing further bets, commissions were still being recorded when they shouldn't have been. eg if someone placed 3 bets, it will look like 3 commissions, not 1 (naturally we would delete the two incorrect ones).
Unfortunately, during deleting some of the incorrect commissions, we had deleted 3 correct commissions. Those commissions have since been reinstated and we offer our apologies for the errors.
We have since been working with TradeDoubler and now fixed the primary problem, ie counting every bet rather than just a new account and a bet. This will hopefully solve 90% of problems. However, there are other minor cases when a commissions will be incorrectly recorded.
1) If a punter opens an account at work (via your site) and then uses his / her PC at home, and again visits your site before Sporting Index / BetHiLo, then another cookie is dropped when he / she places a bet. However, whilst at home they haven’t opened a new account, yet a commission is recorded (and subsequently rejected).
2) If a user already has an account, visits your site, and then goes to Sporting Index / BetHiLo, then a cookie is dropped when they place a bet. Again, they haven’t opened an account but a commission is recorded (and subsequently rejected).
Bookmaking is a very cosy community and we have worked with other bookies and know that they experience similar problems. We are not going to be underhand or sly for the sake of a few pounds. We value our affiliate schemes and it is a shame that the commissions can occasionally be misleading.
Nevertheless, the main problem has now been fixed and we are also checking the commissions twice a week to ensure that they are accurate as possible.
I hope that this helps to clear things up. We pride ourselves on responding to all emails from all affiliates. Please feel free to email me at
mstephenson@sportingindex.com if you have any further queries. We’ll try and get back to you as soon as we can.
Best regards,
Matt Stephenson
