  Homebase Problems

Anyone know how long the Homebase website has been out of action?

I noticed today that I'd not had a sale from them for around 3,000 clicks, so I emailed Tradedoubler to say I thought there was a tracking problem.

Then I checked one of the links from my site and it gave me a 404 error.

So I went directly to the homebase site and it has a message saying they're having technical problems. The same message is in Google's cache of their site, dated yesterday.

I haven't had any sales for over a week, so has their website been down that long?

And why didn't anyone from Homebase or Tradedoubler contact affiliates as soon as they knew about the problem?

The Homebase site appears to have been down for at least five days now, maybe a few days more than that.

Must be pretty severe technical problems for the site to be down for so long.

Still no word from Tradedoubler or Homebase about this.

Whatever the reason for the site being down, there's no excuse for the lack of communication.

1st September 2003 .... "Hey, Homebase are great - they were our top performing Tradedoubler merchant last month... let's give them a real push throughout September..."

23rd September 2003 .... "Hmm ... Homebase is still down ... still no word from either Homebase or Tradedoubler..."

'Tis the nature of the beast, I suppose ...

Their conversion rate is not good (0.7% for me, 3.7p per click), but it's better than I get with B&Q (0.6%, 3p per click).
For DIY stuff Screwfix has a much better conversion rate, but the order values always seem to be very small so the earnings per click is about the same as Homebase.

I dropped homebase longtime ago.. but, I do find B&Q works much better for me then all the others. Earning just under 11p a click. Even though you can have 1000's of clicks without a bean, but then you do get some very large sales that knock up the EPC.

Screwfix are a pain in the arse, apparently I was one of their top 10 affiliates but they seemed to be constantly whinge-arseing.. so gave em' the boot

The Homebase website is still down. Must be approaching two weeks now.

No news from Homebase or TD.

TD replied to me and said they'd contact affiliates when the site is up again. But as they haven't told anyone it's down I'm sure there are loads of affiliates still sending visitors to ther site.

Maybe they're afraid that affiliates will start promoting alternatives on other networks if they know Homebase is down, so they're hoping no one will notice.
