I'd just like to offer two words for Rank - and more importantly, TD - to bear in mind for situations like this: ADVANCE NOTICE !!
Hi,
please can you remove any rank.com affiliate links as the program will be closing midnight tongiht.
Thanks,
Nick
Dear Affiliate,
Thank you for participating in the Rank.com affiliate program. We hope you've found it has worked as well for you as it has for us. However, the Rank.com site is about to close but it will be relaunched shortly as Meccagames.com. As a result, the Rank.com affiliate program on Tradedoubler is also about to close.
The program will close at midnight tonight, so please remove any Rank.com creative from your site as soon as possible. Tradedoubler will settle any outstanding earnings in the usual manner. Once again, thanks for participating and we hope to be able to work with you again in the future.
Regards,
Rank.com

I can think of two other words that sprang to mind when I read this...
Thanks for the heads up... so happy to have so much notice!

Surely there's some kind of 30 day notice period to be honoured?

Shame the program is going, was a good one. Time for you to step in and get more of the affiliates JackPotJoy Chris
By the way advanced notice seems to be a problem for all, can understand it when a company goes out of business but closing a program, could maybe do it in a nicer more notice fashion, but hey I guess when your dealing with 3rd parties it makes for not a great relationship when they have given up the want to work with you or affiliates again.
Sorry to repeat everyone's elses comments above BUT just a few hours notice is a *major* inconvienence.
Rank are a good perfomer and as such enjoy prime placement but this very placement means that it will take us a couple of hours to re-script the multi-part form processes we have their promotions incorporated on.
Now we are expected to drop everything to get this removed in time. Really not acceptable!
I've now vented my rant but no doubt my technical partner who actually has to do this work now would still have a few choice words over such last minute notice!
I'm sure TD aren't doing it for the fun of it. There could be loads of reasons why they had to pull it at the last minute and it's usually to protect the earnings of the affiliates. We've had to do it several times.

Fair point Pete but...
"However, the Rank.com site is about to close but it will be relaunched shortly as Meccagames.com"
Closing a site and rebranding it it not usually a decision taken at the spur of the moment on a Tuesday lunchtime.
i.e. methinks that the people involved - Rank.com - could have had a bit more respect for their affiliates and the network by being a tad better organised.

As a rank.com member also, I received an email from them LAST WEEK letting me know they were changing their site!
So, their members find out a week in advance, and their affiliates find out a few hours in advance! Somewhere down the line, there's been an emmence lack of communication.....and the only people who lose out is the affiliates!
I'm not neccessarily pointing the finger at TradeDoubler, however, the burden of responsibility has to lay with someone.
Cheers, Darren
