Wink TradeDoubler is OUR affiliate network of the year...

A quick public thank you to everyone at TD for developing the network into the best one out there during 2003. It was always a step ahead of the rest, but while the others have been ostensibly static through the year, TD has introduced feature after feature.

Only one thing that could be worked on is release of conversion ratios a la CJ, so we no longer have to send thousands of visitors to dodgy merchants who don't generate us a penny in commission. Oh, and perhaps indulging my obsession with residual income would be lovely jubbly. But other than that I really can't think of any significant improvements.

Thanks for everything.

Keep up the good work - and a Happy Christmas to Nick, Andreas, Liz and everyone else at TD!

Hi Nadeem,

thank you for your encouraging words

Everyone at TradeDoubler, in the UK and at Head Office in Sweden is extremely greateful and we have all worked tireleslly this year. It is great to see the level of positive feedback we have recieved on this forum and in emails that are sent to all members of our team.

We will continue to action any negative feedback as effectively and as quickly as possible and are always looking to build on, and, improve every area of the TradeDoubler network.

With the issue of releasing EPC and conversion rates, this is something we will not release publically for the following reason:

If an advertiser realises that publishers will only promote programs where they see high CRs and EPCs then they will end publishers who drive a lot of traffic but only a few sales.

In the frequent scenario where a publisher has sent 10,000 UVs and generates 50 sales (CR 0.5% and a similar EPC) then are subsequently ended to keep the program figures attractive to new blood - this publisher will unjustly lose out.

This has been discussed at some length, and above all considerations, we are protecting the intersest of our publishers.

I hope this clears it up - if this is something affiliates really want perhaps we can revisit this in the new year.

Kind regards,

Nick

Nick,

As mentioned before, this can be quelled by top and tailing 10% and baseing figures on that mid 80%. That way the extremes will not come into the calculation.

If a poor performing merchant rejects lower performing affiliates, who would want to promote them anyway and probably the best for both parties and allows the affiliate to focus on more deserving merchants.

If any network really is concerned about the welfare of the publisher, then releasing EPC's will weed out those merchants to treat affiliate marketing without the respect it warrants...like a branding exercise or dis-regard for incorporating tracking codes correctly.

At the end of the day, if networks are not forthcoming then affiliates will openly publicise these, which was discussed in the summer. And if a merchant feels the figure doesn't refelect fairly then these should have been made openly in the first place.

There are at least 10 reasons for disclosure to every one against.

EPC's are a benchmark that's all....but it stops us flogging a dead horse when we could be promoting something more profitable.

Another reason I heard from another network for not disclosing EPC's as they felt they would lose the merchant as a client. It's all a little one sided.

By the way Congratulations, you guys have made rapid progress over the course of the of this year. Wel done !!!!

  Lightbulb :

This thread perfectly illustrates that what is good for one is most certainly not good for another.

The outstanding transaction for YES-CAR-CREDIT left a nasty end of year taste in my mouth and I found it simply amazing that several of these transactions were suddenly authorised the day AFTER the final payment of the year was made and as I do not promote that many merchants this meant NO payment for me.

By the time these payments are made (around the 15-20 Jan 2004) will mean that transactions of from as early as September were 4 months late.

2003 for me was no way the year of Tradedoubler who are now firmly at the bottom of the pile for me.

  Good and bad

From what i've seen, the statement: 'one man's meat is another man's poison' is true with affiliate marketing.

Some programs and networks work brilliantly for some but not so well for others.

So where there's a good experience there's also a bad one and vice versa.

What is also true is that people are very quick and noisy when complaining but not so loud and outspoken when things are going well, but when they do it's a very welcome suprise.

Merry Christmas Everybody!
