  Video Island

Anyone promoting Video Island? Just talking to TD about them just now and be keen to hear from anyone that has had any leads or sales recently.

I promoted them last week (PPC) and there was just no interest. Shame as i initally thought it had potential.

It's a great concept if you ask me, like the others anyway I don't think it was your effort on the PPC for being the reason there was no interest however what I have found is that no one I know is promoting them and that's very odd as like I said it has all the elements of a good program, free trail payment and payment on full sign-up.

My person experience is I joined the site myself, got a 14 day free trail and I am now full member yet it never tracked, however I am told it converts at around 1% daily but what makes this very odd for me is if that’s the case how on earth is it tracking because the completion page had these lines in it and I took a copy of each possible page the tracking code could have been on.

< !-- link to TradeDouble for crediting affiliates -- >
< !-- tradedouble_img_sale.tpl -- >

< !-- /tradedouble_img_sale.tpl -- >

That's not how normal tracking code should work, it looks to me like it's side server or web designer code to say tracking should be placed here but no one actually done it or if they did removed it at some point.

Anyway it's a bit naughty of me telling you what my personal experience is in advance of finding out what TD find out about it, it was just finding out from them it converts at 1% yet being an affiliate of many years has taught me that if it don't track for 1 person chances are it doesn’t track for anyone else unless they are using a cluster of servers and only 1 of them got the correct code and the others did not but like I said if anyone has had any leads or sales please post as I like to know.

I joined them, the sale tracked correctly, but they failed to deliver any recent films within the trial period, so I cancelled.

  Video Island

We promote their inhouse programme rather than going through Tradedoubler.

I think we've only have a couple of people sign up paying monthly earning us a £5 each time.

I've used the service on a promotional basis and can't really complain except I seem to keep being sent Futurama discs which I'm sure I've received before.

I called Tuesday afternoon for an update and was told that Video Island will do it's own test today, so any luck that will happen, however I am still being told it's converting at 1% a day, I yet to see a lead or a sale myself and my free trail and then full sale never showed so time will tell what the problem is/was or was not.

Screen Select also with TD did track fine so I know it's not anything on my set-up that stopped it from tracking otherwise that one also would not have tracked, I would imagine.

Cheers Clarke, had a quick chat with Nick on this one and he's coming back to me later today - I'll let you know we get on with it.

I just got an email (however I hear others got told before me and I was the first to bring up that it didn't work).

Quote:

AT LAST!! A reason... This is fixed now.
Sorry for the delay,
Thanks
and here is the reason

Quote:
Here I think I've just worked out the problem: you're redirecting to
www.videoisland.com, we need you to redirect to just videoisland.com.

When you go to www.videoisland.com you lose the session information.

Sorry this is a recent bug, and I've raised the issue around here. Until

then please could you send all traffic to just videoisland.com

Thanks.
So that's it all working and fixed now.... or is it! I means what happens with the sales part as I know as a customer I visit www.videoisland.com and not videoisland.com so how is the sales for that tracked after the lead is done?

Every email they send ends with

Quote:
www.videoisland.com
Your Entertainment Paradise
Should that not be "videoisland.com Your Entertainment Paradise"? also should they not default all traffic sent to "www." to the non-www version? This stuff is all very easy, even someone with minor tech knowledge could do that, and I wouldn't even comment on how bad the set-up must be if they have to do that in the first place..

Anyway problem not fully solved if you ask me, and what happens to the lost revenue when they had the problem?

I would reply to TD and let them know but since being the one that brings up the problem first and being the last to know when it's fixed after others are told I kind of feel what's the point. [/a bit miffed post over LOL ]
