Follow us on Twitter NOW!
Just over two years ago Kelkoo released version 3 of its API, and we've been working on it ever since. We've also stopped supporting version 2 to allow us to focus on developing new features for version 3.
Some of you however, still appear to be using the old version, preventing you from using the new features available only on version 3. Features such as:
- extra large product images,
- category refinements,
- price refinements
- and many more...
By switching over you can ensure your site returns better, more relevant results to your users and you'll also get full technical support by our UK affiliate team.
If you're not sure what version of the API you are using then contact Chris Theodorou or Daniel Lancioni at affiliates@kelkoo.com.
Checking-in isn’t as popular as we first thought
In the last few newsletters we have been mentioning the importance of getting your customers to check-in, and the concept of geo-targetting, however this week’s article from Mashable reveals checking-in is a low priority for smartphone users.
A recent survey, put forward by the Pew Research Centre, found that only 12% of smartphone users will use their device to check-in at different locations. Also, geo-tagging add-ons for social sites like Twitter and Facebook are fairly uncommon with only 14% of social media users using the check-in service as well.
Consumers prefer email and post, to social media and mobile!!
Yes it true! According to an article published by New Media Age this week, consumers actually prefer to be contacted via the more ‘old school’ channels like email and post. Research, published by data specialists Acxiom in July, found out that only 9% of existing customers felt SMS was an appropriate way to get in contact, and even less liked being contacted through Twitter (only 4%). Email was the big winner with 71% of consumers selecting this channel as their favourite method of contact.
But don’t be disgruntled by this, social media is obviously still an extremely potent marketing force to be reckoned with. The Retail Bulletin states that social media has an increasing influence on purchasing decisions. A study by IBM found that consumers are using social media in a more shop-savvy way to research products and prices, in order to get the best deal for them.
Five Fantastic Firefox add-ons for web designers and developers
Courtesy of Netmagzine.com, we have five great Firefox add-ons this week for any designers and developers who are looking to touch up their site in the not so distant future. Mozilla’s Louis–Rémi Babé runs through his top 5.
For anyone who has basic knowledge of HTML and CSS, and has an interest in site development, then using Firebug and Web Developer could be for you. For simple file-to-server uploading, look no further than FireFTP. And finally, for all your screen-grabbing, cropping and pixel matching needs, make sure you're using PIxlr Grabber and ColorZilla.
One-in-four Smartphone Users exposed to Advertisements
A study from ComScore has found that a quarter of smartphone users recall being exposed to mobile ads in June this year. The quarterly uplift is estimated at 27.7% between the months of March and June.
The study also shows that just under 8% of smartphone users recall seeing a smartphone ad at least once per week in the month of June, this is up by 28% in just 3 months. 7.5% recalled seeing at least one ad per day (up 52% over the same period)
