Hi all,

TradeDoubler are grabbing the Ad Blocking issue by the horns, please take 2 minutes to read through our plan of action.

TradeDoublers Technical Operations team would like invite you to participate in our ad blocking project. The intention of this project is to measure the impact and spread of ad blocking software.

How does ad blocking work:
Ad blocking programs (like Norton Internet Security) filters the information sent to your the browser and strips out all content that is found in the software's keyword list. Example of keywords are /ad, /banner/, tracker.tradedoubler.com and other adserving and affiliate network URLs. This means that the user would see your site without any banners or text links.

How does the TradeDoubler ad blocking tracking work: TradeDoubler have set up an iframe graphical element (4x1 pixels big) that consists of four iframes (1x1 pixel each) and each of these iframes loads an invisible gif image (1x1 pixel). Two of these iframes are loaded from URL's that won't be blocked by a user that has ad blocking software installed and the other two will be blocked if the user is using ad blocking software. TradeDoubler will then be able to measure the impact of ad blocking software. TradeDoubler will add the ad blocking tracking
to various sites across Europe.

What TradeDoubler wants you to do:
TradeDoubler want you to add this ad blocking tracking pixel on to your site. It is important that the tracking pixel stays on the site and that you notify TradeDoubler if you would like to remove it. TradeDoubler will continuously keep you updated of the progress of this project and provide you with statistics.

Short answer - no.

Even if I hadn't dumped you Tradedoubler guys a while back because of your spyware problem, I still wouldn't bother - what would be the point?
You want me to jump thru hoops to make sure YOUR link works, so some scummy adware company can jump in and overwrite my cookie at the last moment with your total compliance? Or perhaps by some miracle my sale actually goes thru, and I then have a 50% (40%? 30%???) chance of you managing to log the sale and *giving me my commission*???

I think this is always a useful step at addressing issues that networks come across, although not suitable or acceptable to betterhalf for reasons which a fair few affiliates agree with, any network regardless of the politics, which is still being thrashed out as I type, is always one step further in the right direction and I would encourage any TD affiliate to assist as there are many affiliates who do not use this forum, have not seen this forum and rely on TD for their livelyhood.

I'd be willing to run it to make sure its not a flawed test (remember the old one). Will TD give the people that help you compile these stats access to the data afterwards? i.e. the number of impressions of each of those 5 iframes.

If not, then I don't see the value in helping them out.

Surely a better approach is to clean up your act so that the software doesnt feel the need to target you.
