  Trainline Keyword Restrictions - is it allowed?

Just got an email detailing restrictions relating to the Trainline program and it go me thinking. In the emai, they say that you are not allowed to bid on, amongst others,;
"train line"

I can understand not being allowed to bid on "Trainline" but surely "Train Line" is a commonly used term and so should be allowed by people.

What if you have a train dedicated website, and you PPC with "Train Line", and you have banners etc on your site pointing to the TrainLine affiliate program - would this not be allowed?

I have just received the email aswell.
Can't believe they actually put train line in there as a trademark.

It is such a common term, they would have a great deal of trouble getting the ads removed.

It is allowed, they are paying you the commissions, they can choose to restrict you in any way they want. It is up to you to decide whether or not to tell them to get stuffed. And it is up to them to decide long term, whether the restrictions they place are too restrictive. You could send them an email asking if its in their best interest, but there would be no point in taking it to the european court of human rights... you'll just get chucked off the trainline programme.

I am not sure if there is a point promoting the trainline via ppc at all. I used to, and my ads converted very well to sales, but even at the lowest bid, I still made a loss. Well, I hope you are doing better
