Due to not getting any sales until 2:17pm i decided to see if there is a problem, as i usually get on average about 3 an hour.

Ive checked all the links and they are fine, so i decided to check the cookies.

First i cleared the cookies, then whilst keeping an eye on them i clicked each of my links then deleted the cookies straight after every link pressed.

The first 5 gave me the TD and Jamster cookies fine, then suddenly i only started getting jamster cookies and no TD cookies.

I thought it was that some of the links were not creating the cookies so i tested the ones which previously gave the TD cookies but these didnt work either now??

On the odd occasion the TD cookie was given, but not very often.

I did the same thing on other sites i have, which are not affiliated with Jamster but they all gave me the TD cookies.

From what i can see it appears the TD/Jamster cookies dont always work... hopefully the problem is with my computer and not TD but i cant see anything obviously wrong.

Just thought i would mention that even though i had no sales recorded before 2:17pm, infact i had a record day today!!!

So i assume i must be wrong and the TD cookies are working fine for everyone who has visited my site... they still dont work for me though?

    Hi Leeky,

Thanks for this. I am pretty certain that the tracking through Tradedoubler is effective. We test the links on a daily basis to ensure effectiveness.

I will look into this further today and see if there indeed any instances such as you have mentioned.

    Hi Leeky,

sorry to hear you have been worried about the TradeDoubler cookies, what you are experiencing with the cookie drops is quite normal and I will explain why.

When you click on a TradeDoubler link the parameters contained within the link/banner are passed to the transaction table in our database.

If, at the time of this click you don't have a TradeDoubler cookie, our system will generate a uniqueID [TDUID] and insert this TDUID in to your TradeDoubler cookie, and, also insert the TDUID in to a row in the transaction table in our database. Along with the insertion of the TDUID in our transaction table we also insert the basic paramters required for tracking which are affiliateID, programID and time of click. There are more parameters, but I don't want to over complicate this process.

If you click on another TradeDoubler link, we won't issue you a new cookie as we already have the uniqueID (TDUID) stored in the existing cookie from the previous click. We simply insert the existing GUID along with the new programID, your affiliateID, the timestamp as a new row in the transaction table.

When you go on to purchase, or complete a commissionable event for these programs, at the point where the call back is made our tracking technology passes the TDUID on your computer back to our systems where it is reconciled against the transaction table. As we have the affiliateID, the programID and the TDUID we know who to award the commission to.

So, the above is why we don't issue a new cookie (TDUID) for each click. If you continue to repeat the deletion of the TradeDoubler cookie and then click on a TradeDoubler link we won't issue a new TDUID as we have recorded too many requests from your IP address.

Hope that clears it up for you, please feel free to contact myself, Andy or the Support Team if you have any further queries.

    Thanks,

    Nick

Thanks Nick for the reply, its put my mind at ease and probably a few others who may have wondered what was happening.

Is there another fool proof way of testing my links without checking cookies or actually purchasing something?

Obviously the standard links will work fine, but ive had to use links which ive altered manually to fit in with the site design, ie.. the menu links - vintagecomputer.co.uk/ringtones/default.asp

    Cheers
