no, but don't go giving them ideas leeky
also, i think the word they mean is trademark, not copyright.
Are keywords such as 'crazy frog' 'sweety chick' , 'amarillo' etc copyrights? and therefore not allowed to use with google adwords?

Leeky,
maybe it would be a good idea for you to post all your keywords here and I'll check them to see if they are not infringing any trademarks

Phew, thats a relief.. its just that it only mentions keywords such as 'ringtones, wallpapers, etc.

Never argue with idiots. They just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their experience.
If ignorance is bliss then some of the people I know must be orgasmic.
Ok, here is my big money earner keywords, please keep this one to yourself though.... shhhh!

Before I start, my guess is that's not from Matt Elliott - if it is, I'll eat the contents of this bin beside my desk.
I've had that message 3 times this year, all with different operative dates, and none of them makes any sense.
'Blue' is copyright by the band, Blue (but only in the US), Widgets by the The Widget Company Ltd (but only in Europe) and Blue Widgets is copyright by 'Universal Blue Widgets with Dangly Bits, Inc', but that's only in Burkino Faso.
So according to that email, I can't bid on 'Blue', 'Widgets' or 'Blue Widgets' - they're all protected by copyright.
Oh, and by the way, what's a pay per search engine anyhow? I don't use any of them. All the ones I use are pay per click.
Try This Jams*er:
'Don't bid on the words 'Jamba' or 'Jamster' on their own, anywhere, or else!'
That's all that's needed, not this endless rigmarole and restating of the same policy over and over again, always with the same sloppy wording, but with different dates.
And after all that, I can still do a search for 'Jamster', on its own, no quotes, brackets or qualifications, on Google and find the #1 Adwords spot occupied by a Jamster affiliate ad.
Go figure![]()

No, the email is not from Matt, infact ive just noticed its not even from the UK... although i should imagine the rules are the same here.

Dear affiliate,
We have added some new terms and conditions to the Jamster.com
affiliate program. These terms will be enforced as of 20.04.05.
The buying of search results is allowed, subject to special
conditions.
Jamster affiliates are allowed to:
- buy keywords on PPC search engines such as adwords, Overture,
Espotting or any other kind of pay per search engines with the use of
keywords in the field of mobile entertainment, I.E. 'ringtones,
wallpapers, etc.'
- link and/or redirect to their OWN WEB SITE (Not Jamster Directly).
Jamster does not allow:
- keyword buying on pay per search engines with adwords, Overture,
Espotting or any other kind of pay per search engines using terms
which are protected by copyrights, especially the brand names 'jamba'
and/or 'jamster'.
- linking and/or redirecting to the Jamster / Jamba websites, no
matter for which keyword. Linking and/or redirecting through tracking
links (partner links) is not allowed, either.
- using Jamba! and/or Jamster! in the ad text
In breach of these guidelines, Jamster retains the right to cancel the
partnership with the offending affiliate.
To make this clear: Jamster affiliates are no longer allowed to bid on
key words in any search engine and have that traffic go directly to
any page on Jamster.com. Jamster affiliates are also not allowed to
bid (AT ALL) on the keywords: Jamster, Jamba or any other Jamster
trade mark. We at Jamster believe this is counter productive and a
waste of every one's money, traffic and time.
From now on please have traffic coming from any search engine go to
your web site and not directly to Jamster.com.
In order to make sure all of your conversion rates stay the same or
get better we have developed a FORM for you to place on your web site
so that consumers can sign up for ring tones right from your home
page. We have also developed many other product specific ads that are
great for building landing pages. This should increase conversion rates
drastically.
In order to make this transition as smooth as possible the Jamster
affiliate team is here to help you with any technical questions you
might have. Feel free to call at anytime.

Jamster has now bought the rights to John Craven and Giles Brandreth.
We have them in a cupboard waiting to decide how they can be used.
'Universal Blue Widgets with Dangly Bits, Inc', is disallowed in Burkino Faso and also in Malaysia.
Basically the conditions in the US are the same as the UK. Indeed everywhere.
I could write the fundamentals of this on a postage stamp, but sometimes there is a need to be a bit more thorough.
I guess my statement for the UK was not as long, but my heart was in it.
matt,
what about
?And after all that, I can still do a search for 'Jamster', on its own, no quotes, brackets or qualifications, on Google and find the #1 Adwords spot occupied by a Jamster affiliate ad.
We are still seeing some action on our keywords, and have contacted a number of partners already.
If this affiliate does not remove his/her keyword bid within the requested time, their partnership will be cancelled.

There are alot of misconceptions with regard to Google adwords. Ifthe content enhacer is enabled, you may not be aware that your ad is running on certain keyword, so the longer the keyword ban list the more likely that affiliates are unknowingly having their ads running.
