  Newbie overworried about missing sales?

Hi there

Im using a mixture of affiliates that pay on sale not per click, over the past few days I have rose steadily through the search engines for some good terms and have saw a really nice rise in traffic.

I replaced a lot of my banners with text links and again my amount of clicks per day has risen 3-4x what it was.

Before this I was getting a steady amount of sales but since Sunday they have completely dropped off to zero.

Is it possible, that I could be using 'banner' code rather than text link code and not getting the sales? Or could it be the sales are really lagged?

My stats aren't showing many impressions as Im not using image ads but I have used the same code in places rather than seperate code for text links.

Probably just a newbie question, yes I appreciate the 'ups and downs' and so forth but realistically I have been getting several hundred clicks per day more than what I was and not even getting one sale on low priced items.

Could I be doing something wrong?

Cheers

[edit]-I don't suppose it matters about the image adverts aslong as the first two IDs (x and y) match up right?

my sales for jamster have made no sense at all over the last couple of days, from really good to really poor with no obvious reason at all (apart from one link which i did cock up myself - it can happen!).

combined with TD not working for periods today, banners not displaying and links not working, I'm worried.

I had a pretty bad day on 03/5/05 also, and i can say exactly what the problem is...

The time it takes a click on a link to pass through tradedoubler onto Jamster is around 4 to 15 seconds, when the clicks are going slow you can guarantee a bad day, nobody likes to wait around and most will think the link is dead.

If they could somehow speed up the process i recon sales would double.

You will see on TD stats that you have had loads of click throughs and very low sales... this is because the person has clicked, the click has been recorded but the page has not had chance to load before the customer clicks off.

Sometimes the page doesnt load at all until you refresh.

Im no expert on things like this, but i do know i would personaly get fed up with waiting for such lengths of time.

One thing I have noticed in the link example you provided, there should be an & symbol to separate the parameters.

So:

clkuk.tradedoubler.com/click?p=22504&g=12345&a=377412

and not:

clkuk.tradedoubler.com/click?p=22504g=12345a=377412

Do you have examples of actual links?

Also, if you are using these tags as text links, you will not register any impressions.

Matt

**edit: I assume you are talking about sales and tracking in general and not just specific to Jamster?

I dont know what Chris7 is refering to but im refering to TD in general, i used Jamster as an example because this is the one i mainly use.

If somehow TD could speed up there link through process then i would be extremely happy :-)

I do know for certain it puts people off because friends have tried to use my site and complained about the speed of the click throughs... if it wasnt my site and that i told them the links do work....(eventually), none of them would have continued.

Some days are worse than others, but i do think its a big problem.

Thanks for the reply.

I wasn't talking specifically about Jamster although have noticed Jamster is effected to have reported this to an account manager

Apologies for the typo in the URL, I did have the p= g= a= in correctly on the actual URLs but deleted them by mistake when obscuring my actual IDs in here. Thanks for noticing that but that isn't the problem as clicks / UVs etc are all being registered.

Will see what happens in response to email

Cheers
