Thread: Raja telephone numbers in data feed!!

    Did no one actually glance through the data feed at tradedoubler before setting it live? Kind of like real affiliate basics eh?

    I will let our Product Feed team know of the issue with the Raja feed and to keep an eye out for future issues such as this. As I am sure you can appreciate we process the data exactly how the advertiser stores it in their own database.

    Many thanks for looking at this for me and of course everyone else, though i would if i may like to add that the problem is as you described

    Data should pass through a very very strict filter before ever getting through the networks. A filter that perhaps doesnt even exist at the moment? It would be interesting to know what measure are actually in place at the moment so i can relax my own filters for your data and get them working on areas that are not covered.

    Hi pricethat,

    you're welcome - we parse through product feed data and strip out HTML and other unwanted characters post import, this is of course to separate the presentation rules from the data.

    I don't think there is a filter which we could accurately implement to remove telephone numbers, I could be wrong but think of all the possible permutations and mismatches... .I think the best way of addressing these issues is to let the account manager know and then we will contact the advertiser about removing these numbers from their product data.

    If it is any help we use a reporting tool for all the data because we cant rely on the networks. Every night it scans each listing for any "queries" that we have added to our "query list". What it does is just gives us a list of listings that matched certain rules. We can then apply certain rules per merchant on import.

    The query that brought this to our attention was

    "call us on" which is a very good indicator of a telephone number

    others might be

    "call us now"

    "tel:" is also another good indicator

    applying searches to data every night with simple issues that really annoy us lets you know as a network instantly if something is wrong before we contact you. Doing searches through data like this also saves you having to develop systems that as you say are too difficult to predict or identify.
