Right, mate of mine wanted to get a pc, he was going to his local PC shop to pay nearly double what i got him one for.... so he went to dell.

Glad i did as the offer on show was for FREE DELIVERY......

So was expecting more commissions that i actually got, after having a word with my mate, he said he was actually charged Frieght but the cost of the pc went down to cover it.....

With Dell not paying for Freight commissions its a tidy little saving for them isnt it.

    Comments please

Yeah they certainly make money on delivery which ever way you look at it. £50 for delivery of a computer in anycase I think is pretty steep when you can do it for about £15-20 at the very most. Definitely good profit whether they fiddle the affiliates on free del or by charging the client. Its their secret charge to make them look cheaper in my opinion.

Monk, the offer was free delivery, the cost of the PC was x amount but when the order invoice came through the cost of the pc was less ( meaning less commissions than I should have got) and there was a delivery charge on the invoice.

Wonder if TD can pass comment as this isnt on

    Hi bod,

I can see you are a bit annoyed by what has transpired, but there is very little we can do from the forum.

Playing Devils Advocate, the free delivery offer will increase the conversion rate; whether the delivery charge should then be built in to the overall cost of the PC is another question - could it be Dell are doing business this way for tax benefits against the "delivery" cost?

Also Dell build the PC's for the British market in Ireland, so £50 would be about right....

If you want an official repsonse from the Dell team, and also to suggest to them how you would like commissions to be allocated please email sophie.lim@tradedoubler.com - could you summarise your recent transaction and include all necessary details.

I am 99% confident Dell will not consider paying commission on delivery, but they may be able to change the business rule on how the free delivery is allocated to the overall sales value reported back - we will have to wait and see.

I will send an email to Sophie about this issue, but please make sure you follow up with an email to Sophie as well.

    Kind regards,

    Hi bod,

I know there are several discussions about this, I haven't heard anything back from the Dell team on this yet. Best place to check would be with Sophie who you spoke with before, sophie.lim@tradedoubler.com.

    Many thanks,
