Sorry for the extremely late notice, TradeDoubler were only notified late in the day yesterday that the Hard Rock Casino site will be CLOSING as of today.

In return Grosvenor Casino will be replacing Hard Rock Casino as a program, with the turnaround for this program, it will not be live until next week. We will let you know as soon as the Grosvenor Casino program becomes live.

Has TD WRITTEN into the TERMS AND CONDITIONS for Grosvenor Casino that should they CLOSE without notice, they will be FINED a HUGE sum of money?

These kinds of sudden closures have been having for YEARS on all networks and is not the way professionals work.

No, it's not, I agree... it's the way AGENCIES work on BEHALF of their clients. Because that's what they're USED TO DOING when they run campaigns. But affiliate marketing IS NOT A CAMPAIGN.

Hope you are well! Hard Rock Casino was acquired by Grosvenor Casino so TradeDoubler and our affiliates would have been the second-to-last to know about this...with the last being the public and probably the players.

Thank you for your responses to this and other threads Nick, particularly as it is a Saturday. Hope you're well too

We've never promoted Hard Rock Casino, but the situation did seem unfair on those affiliates who did.

Hopefully the lessons have been learnt from this happening about 100 times and the T&Cs have been put in to ensure that if any merchant shuts up shop again without notice they will be faced with a whacking fine. (And I suggest the money goes to Andreas; he'll accumulate enough to buy a Porche very soon.)

In just the way you can't sack an employee without notice, it should be the case that affiliates, who merchants say they love so much, can't be got rid of with about zero seconds notice.

It will benefit the industry massively if there's some security in the business relationship. We are extremely selective with the merchants we decide to promote and, when we do pick someone, we may invest x hundred hours and x thousand pounds to market them - in just the first few weeks. If there is a danger that all that investment can do down the drain, it stops us going for those fours and sixes and we just end up tapping the ball and sprinting between the wickets for quick singles.

Merchants say they want affiliates to create high quality pages to pre-sell and promote them, with original copy, and for affiliates to use innovative ways to market them. That 'aint gonna happen if you never know how long a merchant is going to last for.

The one reassuring thing about TD is that merchants tend to stick with them longer than other networks.
