I totally agree. It just shows how amateurish some merchants are. I'd be interested to hear TD's views on how they've handled this ..
Just got this from TD:
From 1st of November 2007 Thorntons are closing their affiliate program on the TradeDoubler network.
The affiliate program will therefore be closed from the 1st of November 2007 and we kindly ask you to remove your Thorntons links on your site with immediate effect.
So less than 24 hours notice for affiliates to swap their links. When will networks start getting tough with merchants and tell them that this is unacceptable - and that if they do it there will be a severe financial penalty which will be enforced (by legal action if need be).
OK, I promote Thorntons through Buy.at already and not through TD but there is a principle here which applies not only to TD but across the whole industry - merchants need to learn that affiliates are not a toy which can be picked up and dropped at will with zero notice.
Never argue with idiots. They just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their experience.
If ignorance is bliss then some of the people I know must be orgasmic.

They've made a right fudge up if you ask me!

This made me laugh .. kind of ..
Thorntons have a banner running on this forum for their program with Buy.At !
anything to do with their CEO (whos sig appears on all thorntons chocolate boxes) was forced to resign after something like 20-30 years after being caught on CCTV in Hotel Chocolate squashing all the truffle chocolates with his thumb
search google for the article
lol its genius
BBC NEWS | England | Nottinghamshire | Chocolate expert damaged truffles
Chocolate wars
Love that article people
The no notice is typical of TD in my opinion anyway.
Ta
"Hotel Chocolat was told by Thorntons that Mr Colenso had "handled the truffles inappropriately".
That's shocking - far worse than just squashing them with his thumb.
