Are My Eyes Deceiving Me - Waitrose Entertaining - Re- Launched

Waitrose Entertaining has just re-launched on Tradedoubler ... I simply had to laugh, I think it says it all. Ithought todays date was November 19th, not April 1st.

Wasn't it suggested this would happen?

Would you apply that to all their programs? I did promote their wedding list for a while but after seeing a lot of bad comments regarding customer service on forums I stopped (it wasn't converting anyway).

Now I've just started a new gift site and was pretty much relying on their product range to make it viable.

Would you stick with them on this or find an alternative?

    Thanks

In October last year I generated £101,422.69 worth of sales for Waitrose and was near on widdling myself with excitement at the thought of Christmas sales. You can imagine the wailing and gnashing of teeth when I got the notification they were closing in time for Christmas.

Ironic that they resume the programme almost exactly where they left off last year?! Perhaps they're trying to make amends, lol.

Yeah, I thought I heard a distinctly "oinkey" sonic boom a minute ago there as well.

Hard, yeah.. not arf! Fortunately we were in Thailand then, so I felt a little detached from reality anyways. Duncan had to do a fair amount of soothing of my affiliate ego for a few days though (sangsom and redbull saw me through!)

Let's not do the affiliate goldfish memory trick and forget how things have been in the past. Here's a post from my blog over a year ago

We can only hope Fraser but what's the bet for every affiliate that laughs and wouldn't touch it there's 10 that will sign up for the program. Goldfish memories indeed!

    Hi all

I would like to assure all of you that the issues that arose with the Waitrose Entertaining affiliate programme last year have been addressed and with buy in across the business, we won't come across the same problems again.

Please feel free to contact either myself or my colleague George Head if you have an questions or hesitations regarding joining the programme in the run up to Christmas this year. You can find out all about the programme, PPC restrictions, commission and cookie duration from the TradeDoubler interface. Also, if you promoted the merchant previously and would like to re-join, please drop us an email with your affiliate ID so that we can re-accept you onto the programme, advise on latest offers, creative and so on.

    Regards,
    Sabrina

Hi Sabrina, thanks for taking the time to post. Just to clarify you're saying that Waitrose Entertaing are never, ever going to close their program again. They will stay live on the TD network until the end of time? Sorry if this may sound harsh but there's a saying my mum used to used and that's 'once bitten twice shy'. I think after what happened last year this will be a hard one to get affiliates signed up to as it's still very fresh in the mind.

    Hi Julie

That's not what I'm saying. (I don't think that anyone could say that for any affiliate programme.) I understood that the concerns that were raised were around budgets and how they were managed, with the direct result on the affiliate channel. This is the issue that has been addressed. We now don't have a fixed budget but rather one that is based around a performance based model, which will allow us to grow the programme and channel.

    Hope this helps.
