I've noticed some very erratic tradedoubler conversion patterns recently - this might just be the gods of fate but some days I'll get 100-200 ROI and other days it'll be minus something. Quite strange I thought![]()
Hello Everyone,
I have been looking at my stats recently and something that I have long suspected seems to be true.
Traffic I have been sending to Tradedoubler has crashed in terms of conversion. I used to get conversion rates of 8%+ a month on traffic I sent to Tradedoubler but now it is down to only around 1% , this drop off happened around June/July time and is getting steadily worse.
Of the other networks that I send traffic to the conversion rate has gone up (in one case even doubled) over the same period, so it's not the niche or quality of visitors to my site that has diminished.
I am convinced that something must have gone awry with their tracking for conversions to drop by a factor of 5 or 6.
Has anyone else noticed any issues with tradedoubler?
Ta
Bill

i had also noticed something was up , so i neded to buy some christmas presents and ordered 3 items , of which none were tracked .
That is really bad - when you know for sure that something has been purchased and not tracked. Did you speak to TD about it?
I also have my suspicions about our figures recently. I was making a steady daily amount from the British Gas program and have not had any sales now since the 17th of this month.
I'd be interested to hear what the guys from TD have to say.![]()
ok , I assumed the problem was just with one particular retailer tracking but this could be a problem with more retailers , will have to look at all my programs
has anyone checked in Traffic Error Report ????

yes, and its reporting no errors
It's interesting to hear that other people are suspicious as well.. I have queried this with Tradedoubler on several occasions and when they actualy reply to me they say that they have no issues..
But the loss of conversion is huge, we plan on moving all the programmes we can to other networks to see how they compare..
Trend graphs illustrating the conversion rate of a prescribed rolling number of clicks, ie 1000 for an individual / network wide or 10,000 network wide, which all parties can see, would illustrate & flag potential downward spirals & problems within any program on any network wrt to tracking (it maybe sometimes the tracking works, but the reporting doesn't).
With a baseline on the trend graphs, when the point drops below an accepted level it is flagged to both affiliate, merchant & network. I asked for this before years ago across networks but I don't think any network has really done it properly, if at all.
Why hasn't this been done, well apart from allocating needless time to a batch of superfluous 468x60 banners (whoopee blooming doo), paranoia is possibly one of them by the fact that tracking does go array, often undetected by party & often firstly detected by an affiliate.
There does seem to be a false assumption, that because a network (whoever it maybe) sees sales being reported, that all sales are being reported for all affiliates. I don't know how networks work, I do remember a few years ago when publicly another network had different affiliates reports on different servers. It took some persuading from by me of their CEO when this was reported by us to come clean to all affiliates and acknowledge there was a problem, which dissipates backlash.
I guess what I am saying, is just because another affiliate may not have the same problem re tracking or reporting, it doesn't mean the problem doesn't exist, and some parties / support staff have been known to be quite dismissive by adopting the alternate train of thought.
