If you do email marketing sign up to British Airways quick!!
If you do email marketing then sign up to British Airways quick, as by the looks of it you're just about the only affiliates allowed to promote them.
Having looked at their terms and conditions (though the ts and cs on Tradedoubler's site differ from the ts and cs in the document linked to from Tradedoubler's site) the following are not allowed
Any PPC activity - though the document linked to does say there is a closed group.
Any cashback/reward sites - though the linked document does not mention them at all.
Any content sites - as you cannot use the terms British Airways etc etc etc on your website - as it says you can't use those words for SEO and since content is seo then presumably we have to say "Fly with the World's Favourite Airline - but we can't tell you who it is!!"
So as I say - if you do email marketing - get in there quick before they add 'you can't mention British Airways in emails' as well.
Muppets - whoever thought up this affiliate policy should be learning this afternoon what those letters P45 at the top of the piece of paper he/she has been given really mean - and shame on TD for allowing such a severely over restricted set of ts and cs to be put in place - somehow I think the TD rabbits got blinded by big brand headlights....Never argue with idiots. They just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their experience.
If ignorance is bliss then some of the people I know must be orgasmic.

Really can't get me head around merchants who do that. How do they expect affiliates to sell stuff, when they can't really say what they are selling.as it says you can't use those words for SEO and since content is seo then presumably we have to say "Fly with the World's Favourite Airline - but we can't tell you who it is!!"
Yes theres protecting your brand etc, but after a certain point it becomes ridiculous.

What are they going to say next?
We can use the words British Airways as long as we save it as an image
Thanks Lee

I got approved, and have there banner with words British Airways underneath.
No complaints yet, if they moan, there be getting verbal because they could look at my site before they approved me.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for your comments and concerns regarding our affiliate policies. It is great that you have these questions and hopefully this post shall provide some clarity.
Please see British Airways' response to the comments you made:
PPC activity: We do allow a closed group of affiliates to use PPC but this is not open to all.
Cashback /reward sites: We do not allow reward affiliates because it is our policy not to.
Content sites: There is no problem with Affiliates using "British Airways" in their sites. We would never disallow it. What we are trying to make sure is that publishers do not exploit the brand by specifically building pages based around the brand, with little or no original content that exploit British Airways in the meta tags as we see this of little incremental value.
All of the agencies and sites that we work with all follow the same brand guidelines and affiliates are no different.
Thanks you for pointing out that the two Terms and Conditions documents differ, we shall amend that, and thanks again for taking the time to actually read them.
Please let me know if you have any questions at all.
Best regards,
James
