Cool Will a travel agency work?

Hi there

Hope you can help.

At Walker - i there is an opportunity for a large travel agency to become involved in affiliate marketing. This travel agency offers packages, flights and travel worldwide.

Perhaps I am being a tad cynical but I personally believe that the affiliates who will generate significant volume will be the paid search and white-label affiliate sites. Unfortunately, I believe but have not yet confirmed, that these type of sites will not be allowed to take part in promoting this advertiser.

Is anyone else out there????

A few questions:

1/ Does anyone have a percentage split of which type of affiliate in the traffic sector generate sales i.e. paid search 40%, niche sites 10%, travel comparison 8%?

2/ Are there any strong, organic travel sites out there who think they could generate sales for this travel agency (I'm afraid I cannot give out the name of the advertiser)?

3/ What would a travel affiliate prefer promoting - hotels, flights or package holidays?

If you have any other feedback/suggestions relating to an online travel agency becoming involved with affiliate marketing I would love to hear them.

Thanks,

James

Re: Will a travel agency work?

My understanding has always been that travel affiliates ARE actually online travel agents and I am not sure of the other way around in terms whether travel agency earns enough commission to be able to pass part of it to affiliates and, at the same time, to be able to offer competitive enough rates that could match merchant's.

We are a Tour Operator and we have Travel Agencies joining us as affiliates. I can see the only way for those affiliates to get some leverage is for us to offer 2nd tier commission to them for referring affiliates on to our program.

I could be missing something, though.

I hope this helps anyway.
