XL holidays tracking problems again

When XL holidays were on DGM they always had tracking problems now they are on affiliatefuture they are at it again.

I always wondered if anyone actually sold anything or made any commissions with XL

Hi Booker,

I'm sorry that you have experienced problems with XL's holiday tracking. The problem that XL had before was they were making lots of changes to their sales confirmation page and there was a lot of third party tracking that needed to be correctly implemented with each revamp. That has now changed and all of XL's partner tracking pixels are hosted by a single third-party tracking provider, which should ensure that the pixels are maintained correctly on the site.

Looking at the figures we have been recording holidays since December and we are seeing a consistent level of sales so far this month, so I am a little concerned as to the problem you are experiencing. If you email me the details I'll see what I can do to look into it for you.

I did give them a try on AF but I had no leads so swapped back to dgm2

I think its just AF that has been affected by missing tracking and sales.

We have captured all the sales, they just need to be assigned into the correct affiliate accounts. We're hoping to be live again shortly and recording in real time.

Our tracking is sat on the merchants site rather than being called by a third party.

We have recorded sales on DGM for quite a few months now. Generally the figures have been pretty consistent month by month. I have noticed on DGM reports some show as a sale but there is no booking value and no commission. We haven't got the program on Affiliate Future but their tracking seems spot on, on our other travel merchants.

Hi Kildlewis,

Our tags were migrated into a Mediaplex container tag (an iFrame hosted by MediaPlex and embedded into the sales confirmation page) at the end of 2007. I was told at the time that all other tracking pixels were to be included in the tag, which I was told would also include the AffiliateFuture pixel.

This change allowed us to start tracking on XL Holidays, however we found our Flight tags were being exposed on pages other than the sales confirmation page, causing large over-reporting problems, hence you'll notice those sales had no sales value and no order ID associated with them. Our pixel could be exposed four times during a flight booking, generating 4 sales, only 1 of which was valid and were therefore generally very close together in time. These were deleted through the month. Mediaplex and XL resolved this issue at the end of February and the tracking has been working correctly since then.

Can I emphasise that during the period when this issue was occurring we were still capturing all valid sales, the issue was purely one of over-reporting sales.

Nice to see DGM sort their tracking and any technical problems out, which is more then can be said of Affiliate Future in my experience.
