  Real Holiday Reports.Com

Hi Guys,
I've been reading these threads for some time, thinking there's an awful lot of clever people our there who know far more then I do about the travel sector and the sites selling in it.
Can some of you wiz kids take a look over ours Real Holiday Reports.Com please.?

I know the front page is busy, but our friend Goolge seems to like that. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on how we could improve the site, as we will be making quite a few changes in the Autumn
Cheers

hi

busy is definitely the word! nothing wrong with relevant content of course; the search bots love it as you say, but i just think the whole page could be more organised to make for easier reading. just some basic things would help to start with, such as vertical (|) lines between your destinations on the left side, would be a great help. Better to have: Alcudia | Barcelona | Benalmadena | Calella than: Alcudia Barcelona Benalmadena Calella methinks.

you might also want to check across various browsers - those destinations show as bold text in ie7, but not in firefox, and in opera the 'benidorm hotel reviews' carries onto 2 lines.

some suggestions for giving a more organised look & feel: segment/group your content & stick a border around it; make headings clearer; maybe use some background colours; use some graphics/icons to help visitors identify the various sections quickly - all these are options which i think would help, without losing any of your google appeal. i would also suggest just looking at lots of travel-related sites & analysing the common practices amongst them, with regards layout, usability & navigation. it'd be a real shame to waste the valuable content you have because vistors can't find their way around.

that's my twopenceworth anyway

hope this helps

I would get rid of the free version of the Google search & purchase the cut down version of the Google Search Appliance. It only costs from $100 per year, with the search results delivered in your own branded page without adverts. You would have the same search system as Thomas Cook use on their site without the full cost of the full GSA package and it will look more professional than the version your using at the moment.

Some of your Portland Holidays creative are promoting the Summer 2006 season.

The Thomson advanced link on the front page, scrools, I'm not sure if it was intended to do that?
