Post New travel website and some code freebies

Well finally got the beta version of my comparison travelsite up and running, it's a redesign of an early failed attempt.... hopefully more luck this time. Still not happy with the site's design and still a lot to improve but it's up and running. Feel free to critique it
http://www.holidaysflightshotels.com/
Also as a first attempt at link baiting you may find the following interesting:
http://www.holidaysflightshotels.com...ebmasters.aspx

In addition I'm also thinking of developing a widget/gadget that other websites can add in (in the form of an iframe or link to javascript), as a way for those sites to get something useful for free and to get myself a few more backlinks. At the moment I'm thinking something along the lines of currency, weather or ... any suggestions/preferences. Just trying to get a feel for what the demand would be like before I spend a long time coding something.

and yes I know there's only one hotel provider on at the moment I'm not switching the others on till I start getting some real traffic.

Roy

Given the lack of responses, I'm guessing there isn't much interest in such widgets (if that's the right term)? So I don't think I'll be developing one as I doubt the uptake will be worth the time taken to develop one.

Out of interest Roy how are you going to market your widget? Google Gadgets? Facebook applications? Do you have another preference?

David

Hi David, I've decided not to devlop a widget as I don't think the return would be worth the development effort, as there's already a lot out there (weather, currency, etc.). Just going to concentrate on conventional link building methods instead.

There's already a complete suite out there which does what you're suggesting whereby other affiliates or merchants can add their inventory via upload direct to an affiliate or merchant website and also whereby you can invoice them.

It also does price comparison of yours and the uploaded products and if you're doing flights or hotels....it also does xml api integration with a modification.

this isn't quite what I meant, I was talking about a small javascript app most likely, that would have some interactive graphical output (such as weather, or flight arrivals, etc.) ,not to sell anything, just to give a useful gadget for travel webmasters to embed on their page. And yes there's quite a few out there already but there still some possibilites for better versions or things that haven't been done yet.

Re: New travel website and some code freebies

I've replied to pm's on this so I'll post here to save my inbox.

We do a development rewrite of an existing script available from Web Developers, Web Designers and Custom Software Developers for Offshore Development which is based in Karachi, Pakistan.

The script needs a dual core dedicated server for best results (not Celeron) and is a merchant/affiliate hybrid which also permits xml api integration.

The unencrypted DEVELOPERS version retails for 1,500 EUROS with every Mod supplied. The reason we recommend purchase of the developers version is because it is unencrypted. The encrypted sells for a lot less but we can't modify it.

I supply a modification service in accordance with the t's & c's of the developers licence. All works carried out by UK programmers on that. Fees subject to job specification. In addition we can also rewrite the script to custom ergonomics, to make it perform better.

The script enables you to add merchants and either charge them a quarterly fee/annual fee or link to their products/services via affiliate link. It offers full price comparison functions.

I'm one of those guys who sent you a PM, but when I got the response I was a bit puzzled... I'm afraid I don't see how that software is related to an inline site widget given out for the purpose of gaining backlinks - am I missing something?

My apologies. Trouble with getting to bed at 1am and up at 4am, didn't properly read before I posted.

Widgetbox › weather widget do a ready to go widget which will have their backlink in.

Widgetbox › World's largest widget directory and gallery - web widgets for Facebook apps, Blogger, TypePad, MySpace, Wordpress and more in fact does a range including for blogs, so if you were producing one then something along those lines would fit the bill.
