Re: Any tips on my site?

Hi Elliott

Firstly, its a nice clean design and looks great. However, I have a couple of tips for you if want them:

1) I would write your own content specially tailored to those who like clubbing. Things like, the best clubs in the area, general opening times, places to eat etc. Make sure you write it yourself and not just copy and paste. Copying info could cause issues with google ranking etc. I notice you do have content like this, but a quick search on google shows you have taken the content and modified it slightly. If I can tell this, then google can Google and other search engines love unique content.

2) Check your site in all common browsers, On firefox 3 (mine anyway) the calendar appears at the bottom after you click search and then you cant do anything.... Give it a test

3) look for a holiday affiliate system you can integrate better. When you click on the holiday search you are sent to a completely different window and the user in unsure where he/she is..... Try to get one you can white label to add your own nav and branding, or at least one that looks like a geniune trustworthy site. Even better is to choose an affiliate that you can download hotels and/or do accommodation search using XML. This would give you better control over content and design. There are a few that offer XML including Find-Rooms which is the company I represent.

4) Try to stay in the same browser window at all times because otherwise you will confuse people. I noticed that doing a holiday search, and clicking the BLOG sends you to a different window (or tab, depending on how your browser is set up)

Hope these are useful.

Cheers

Craig

Re: Any tips on my site?

Sites nice, well the header, the bottom bit doesn't quite look as stylish but nothing a few images and a bit of a tweak couldn't fix - but lefts face it when has AM ever been about sites that look good

Destinations your targeting - amazing, all areas that, clubbing or non clubbing sell well. You want to know your audience though, people going clubbing arent going to want half board, full board, all inclusive. Pick a selection of merchants, do some searches on your destinations and pick out the hotels they can offer with self catering or room only options as these are the hotels your going to sell. Create a mini hotel directory for each destination, recommend a few based on trip advisor, real holiday reports, holiday watchdog etc

Give some travel info, if i want to go clubbing in kavos how do i get there? show which airlines fly there from which UK airports, say how long it is from CFU to kavos and how much a transfer might cost.

Local info is great as well, as Craig said unique content is the bees knees.

Given this my first steps would be to have 3/4 main sections for each destination:
Hotels / apartments
Travel / Getting there
Bars / clubs
Map

Should be fairly easy to get a decent page worth of content on each, unique content isnt hard, its just a case of reading a lot of info and then re-writing it in your own style and one that will be appealing to your users.

The AF holiday search is nice, but a holiday isnt always the best option if your heading to some of these destinations. Magaluf as one example, its miles cheaper (the majority of the time) to book a flight, and then a hotel, and then a transfer, than to book a 'holiday'. Infact you could probably create a couple of pages worth of content telling people the difference - as many dont, 'whats best for me' sort of approach, dynamic package or tour operator package

bet of luck with it, could definitely grow to be a nice (and highly profitable) site

Re: Any tips on my site?

Nice looking site, really like the header, reminds me of Hed Kandi.

Nice concept as well, sure it would be popular, especially if you add more content such as guides for what to take with you, where to go etc. Could see it getting published in the lads mags like Nuts, Zoo and FHM if you contacted them.

I`m off to Ibiza myself in 3 weeks, and really looking forward to it, although going to the quiet end of the island over as Es Cana. Went into Ibiza town last year, and absolutely hated it (proof i`m getting old lol). Actually liked looking at the old architecture, and horrified at all the neon etc stuck all over it (yup, definately getting old!). Saw a lot of the famous nightclubs, and were amazed how much smaller they were than what I`d imagined them to be like.

One thing that did confuse me a bit, was when you go to a section such as Ibiza for example, in the Holiday Search bit you are given a list of all the countries Antigua, Bahamas etc, and then have to select Spain. I expect this is because you're using a custom search box from the merchant, but I would look at creating your own version (by looking at the HTML produced for the box), so that you click a button and it only shows holidays in Ibiza for the Ibiza section. You should be able to do this by creating your own form, and then replicating the values sent over to the merchants destination page, but hard coding it for Ibiza only, (and obviously the same for the other sections).

A nice site though, and with a bit more content to plump it out a bit, I can see a lot of potential.

realholidayreports is infamous around these parts
Re: Any tips on my site?

Like the site, looks good.
Why can't I get a result from the holiday search box, for Heathrow to Ibiza...6/ Sept...?

This is + or - 1 week, so it's not a date issue.

You can't make money, if they can't book a holiday.

Regarding content, we'd be happy to let you have hotel reviews for Ibza, Majorca, etc, in the same way Ice Lolly uses them. eg Ibiza holiday offers
