Business Insurance - some quick advice required

My bank is trying to sell me business insurance but I'm not convinced I need any.

I'm a Director of a Limited Company, working from home (which is rented) and have no employees.

I have a full time job and they have me covered for life assurance.

I'm single and have no dependants.

What insurance is required? Or what insurance would you recommend?

Cheers,
Ray

Have a look at Get the right insurance for your business | Business Link

Quite a lot of the answers relate to optional insurance, but I think the big two are:

a - public liability insurance if you have people visiting your office and if you work at other peoples offices

b - professional liability insurance - covers you if people come after you for doing a crap job, etc etc.

hmmm am sure that if for instance you had bt round to fit a business line and the engineer got hurt you'd be screwed without propper business cover as you can bet a years business insurance premium that your house insurance would probably say no way jose we don't cover business unless specified and agreed

insurance has evolved from a "we've got you covered" to a " we say you are covered but actually if you take a squint at paragraph 7, point C), then sub point A) you'll see that you aren't actually covered for anything except wild dingo attack, and that's only whilst on british soil"

for the sake of a couple of hundred a year it's worth it.. so I'd double check your house insurance policy for cover for business activities, i.e. what happens if there's a fire in the office .. would they pay out or say not insured as it's business etc.

insurrance has never been fun but lately it's like Russian roulette if you don't take the time to read cover details

Check your household insurance policy first. Many of them provide cover for the "home office" as standard nowadays, as it is becoming so common.

There may be a limit on the value of computers, office equipment, etc.

Regards

Bruce
