    Hi guys,

I have 3 sites that are targetting UK traffic only and are hosted in the US. Also my bounce rate is something like 80% and I've been told that the sites all load pretty slowly.

I want to move to a UK host but am nervous as to the affect on my SERPS as they are all less than 5 months old.

    Any ideas/advice/stories.

    Thanks again,
    Marc

If you are targeting traffic from UK and looking to rank well in Google UK, you can consider UK hosting as it won't affect SERP's infact you will have better rankings in google uk.

If your target visitors are from UK then your website should be hosted on a UK server. Search engines would categorize your website as a UK website and you would get better ranking in google.co.uk. Also, your visitors would get better browsing speed.

Switch to UK host as early as possible. :tup

I guess the following points might help you switch over the websites to the new host with no/less effect in the SERPs.

    1. Take the up to date backup of the website and make it go live on the new server with the web files/database etc.
    2. Once done, Point the DNS to the new server.
    3. Again take the database back up from the original website once the pointing is done in order to make sure that you don't loose any new data if there are new entries in the database like comments, registrations, newsletter subscriptions etc etc.
    4. Remove the web files from the old server and the database too.

You can expect some website downtime as it (usually)takes some time to get the pointing done to the new server and resolves on all the ips but if you continue to carry your regular SEO activities, it wont affect much.

    Hope it helps...
