I have a few databases that I want to move to a reliable mysql host, not really bothered about all the usual stuff that goes with hosting packages, I just want a host that can deal with large mysql tables, eg. creating fulltext indexes on 1 million+ records.

Must be able to retrieve remote files and must be gzip enabled.

    Bandwidth usage, expected 40 - 50 Gb a month

1 domain name is plenty with php capabilities.

    TIA

You can consider our semi dedicated server to host your databases. Semi-Dedicated Servers are a perfect fill-in between Virtual Private Servers and Dedicated Servers. Powerful CPU and 2 Gigs of Guaranteed RAM gives you faster load times, more freedom over the types of programs you can run on your semi-dedicated server and quicker database access. You can check the details at Semi Dedicated Servers UK | Linux - Windows UK Server Hosting

You can certainly not be able to host your website on a shared environment because it will continuously use the maximum server resources which may affect the performance of other websites hosted on the same server. If you are having a good budget then I'd strictly recommend you to go for a Dedicated Server as it would easily handle the huge SQL databases. You can check out our fully managed dedicated server plans and pricing details at Dedicated Server Hosting | Dedicated Linux Windows Servers | Managed Dedicated Servers

Why not consider one the 'Unlimited' hosting providers?
