    Hi guys,

I have a site that is around 6 months old.
It is built using wordpress. All was fine until around the beginning of August (I have been away and just got back to this), when I can see that traffic dropped significantly.
I then looked at the site and it was blank (completely blank page). I am able to log into the wordpress backend and all looks fine and the host says all is ok and nothing has changed on their end.
Any ideas here? The site is www.mynetbookreviews.co.uk

    thanks,
    Marc

    Hello Marc,

what is your existing Wordpress version? I think you need to upgrade your Wordpress. Also make sure all your Plugins are up to date. Uninstall any you don’t need for a faster more secure site. Along with this , check the version of PHP and MySQL on the server.

    Hi Marc,

As it's a wordpress site, there might be number of things responsible for this issue and perhaps your host might not be responsible for this. I'd suggest you to first check the permalinks in the .htaccess file and even if it didn't work then change the default theme for the WordPress from the admin panel and then revert back to the original one. Please try this, and let me know the status of your website.

    Hi Jack,

    Thanks.
I am currently using version WordPress 2.7.1
But why would this suddendly just stop displaying the site?
The site does work sometimes..and then not others.

    Hello marc,

This issue can be fixed however the exact cause can be found through server logs only. You need to contact your hosting company and ask them to go through logs.

Hello Marc this issue surely seems to be caused due to some server side upgrade.
Most probably I think its MYSQL or PHP version thats changed on the server.

Have you tried to contact your webhost company they can surely solve this issue for you.

webhostuk - yip been on contstant communication with him (the host) and he says nothing has changed on their side.

Jack - the host says he has looked through all the server logs and can see no errors at all

Josh - just before I do that. I have heavily customised the theme I am using, so if I go back to standard theme and then reactivate mine, will all the changes I have made be lost?

    thanks guys,
    Marc

    Hi Marc,

The switching of wordpress themes should not affect your website but to be on the safer side I'd suggest you to take the backup of your database and account.

As per your hosting provider nothing has changed on the server side but it doesn't mean that they can skip your issue. They should try to diagnose the problem.
