does anyone know for sure if the location of your servers affect seo or page rank or anything like that? the location of a server really shouldnt have anything to do with it shoud it? your content only reflects who your targetting anyway so if your content relavant your all good?
im with namecheap at the moment whos in georgia usa and im on page 1 for my main keyword on a .net domain targetting only the uk, but if it truly does matter then i guess i will change them.

    Hello,

Location of server does matters for latency, if you are targeting UK market and your site is also hosted on UK server surely ..your site and products will reflect fast for your UK based client. Same if you have your site on US serve it may face latency issue ..surely SEO is not a term just related to keywords..it also matters how fast your site contains are loaded.

My personal experience and work around says location of server is surely important for SEO.

I am also with Namecheap hosting, and have long thought that my .co.uk domains, do worse than the .com /net. I'm sure someone on this forum will have a definate answer.

latency, for me anyway has never been a problem, in fact ive just bought hosting with nethosted and i must say everything seems a lot slower than namecheap. I suppose i have a fast internet connection and a newish computer so latency may not be a problem for me but it could be an issue for my browsers, i never even thought about that really.

So what about your position in search results, i know google takes over 200 factors into account so do you think that ip location is one of them?

If your target visitors are from UK then make sure your website is hosted on a UK based server only. This would help google to categorize your website as a UK website and your website would rank better in google.co.uk. Also, your target clients from UK would get better browsing speed as compared to US server.

I disagree, in google sitemaps control panel you can tell google what country your site is aimed for, hosting location shouldn't matter other than speed issue
