Addon Domains??

Hi, I'm setting up a blog for one of my friends and I have got a temporary free domain name to use until they decide on a .com. I have applied the nameservers to point to an addon domain on my shared hosting account, so I can set up a WP blog for them. My Q is: When they buy a .com can I change this to point to where Ive installed and edited my WP database etc??

Didn't want to spend time adding content etc to have to start again!

Ahh I got your point.

You dont need to add it as addon , it park domain, when you wish to show same contains of existing domain and its files>>> go to your cpanel >> Parkdomain>> And the new domain as park domain.

And Yes to add the domain as parkdomain you just need to update its nameservers same as for your main domain.

So park any random domain name...then once I have the final .com or whatever I can swap the content for this right?? Am I following this correctly..? I'm a little confused lol!

Basically in a nutshell I have aquired a .co.cc (as its free) temporaraly, so I can start building the blog. Then when I get the .com I just want all my work to go here instead of the .co.cc

Basically park domain is the domain which will show the mirror image of site files which are hosted on Main domain.

Just for your e.g when we started our business we started it with http://www.webhost.uk.net then we purchase http://www.webhost.uk.com

we have just park the domain webhost.uk.com on webhost.uk.net

Now it will show the same contains as on .net domain.

I hope that clears your doubt how parkdomain works.

Ahh I see. would the .co.cc still be classed as 'in use' if just parked?? As I don't want it to suddenly get taken down due to inactivity or something, as they offer this extension free but I think it's on the basis it's being used?
