    A few questions:

I am thinking of making move onto a dedicated server I have got a very cheap quote from http://www.fasthosts.co.uk/ however I have read some bad reviews. Has anyone got any advice on who I can go with?

Also do I even need a dedicated server ? Is a reseller account fine? I have about 20 sites however my traffic is load small and highly targeted ?
    Suggestion would be appreciated

    Hello,

I have also read some bad things about fasthosts service.

A reseller account should be more than suitable for your sites depending on the following:

    - How much bandwidth and disk space are your sites using?

    - Are your sites plain HTML/CSS or are they using Wordpress for example.

    Regards,
    Jack

The answer is both, I currently have several thin CSS/HTML sites focusing on lead generation , my target for these is between 100 – 150 PPC visitors a day. I am only using about 40mb in total for these.
I have also created few word press sites with the view of creating a high traffic load so this is my worry.

It sounds like you just need some shared hosting that will host multiple websites, it doesn't sound like you really need a reseller account or a dedicated server.

I'd be wary of Fasthosts though, we get a lot of ex-Fasthosts customers coming to us and they don't have many good things to say about them.

    Hello,

I think you can start with reseller Hosting package to host your 20 sites. As you say your sites are quit small with less traffic..I don't feel there is a real need for dedicated server.

Later as your requirement grows you can upgrade to VPS or Dedicated server.
A reseller plan will cost you quit less than Dedicated server. So first make sure about your requirements and then proceed.
All the Best with your search for New host.

If the cost of a dedicated server is not an issue for you then by all means get yourself one and have it configured the way you want it and you won't have to worry about transferring your sites when they get busy. However, most people don't want to pay out if they can help it so stick with a reseller account and let your host worry about the server performance.

One bit of advice, when you do start to look around for a dedicated server don't forget that it has be looked after by a server admin, look for a server from a host that can offer you this service. You can do all the updates and security checks yourself but it's worth paying that little bit extra to know it's being done properly.

I hate shared hosting - you never know what anyone else on the server is going to be doing.

A VPS would be a good choice if you're reasonably technical, as you get complete flexibility over what you can install. And they're dirt cheap. Have a look at eukhost.

I'd second the VPS option. I've got one with Memset and had no problems at all. Have a look at VIRTUAL SERVER | DEDICATED VPS | VIRTUAL SERVERS : MEMSET
