im concerned over the setup of my dedicated server, I payed a freelancer on digital point to set up my server last year.

but I was having a look around the /whm today and i noticed references in the dns setting to a site that i dont own.

this domain shows up as the A entry of the host and there is references to the site in the DNS Zone.

the site is the same name as my site but the .com version and its registered to someone in china.
and worryingly it was registered around the time i had my Dedicated server set up suposedly by an american guy.

Im not a expert at anything like this, I just about know how to operate a wordpress blog.

I need someone that knows how to configure a linux server and dns to have a quick look at my dedicated server and tell me whats going on.

Obviously i dont expect anyone to do this for free, and will pay anyone that is willing to help for there time via paypal

I look forward to some kind soul hopefully putting my mind at rest.

    Hello,

Thats the reason is always a good practice to go with Managed Dedicated Hosting with a company thats registered.
Again you are trying to so the same freelancer search by placing this post.

What I will suggest you to for Managed dedicated Hosting services ..in which your hosting company manages your server, its security regular updates and rest of the things. This will surely give you peace of mind solution.

If you do a whois on the rogue website does it point back to your servers IP address?

my site is called sunlight-bingo.co.uk the site thats showing up on my dedicated server is for server.sunlight-bingo.com that is registered to someone called ray ngok see his who is info here whois.domaintools.com/sunlight-bingo.com

ive started to recieved emails informing me of Recently Uploaded CGI scripts to server-sunlight-bingo.com, i also noticed that older records of the whois information for sunlight-bingo.com was copied from my whois information from sunlight-bingo.co.uk

im also recieving emails saying problems with dns setup on server.sunlight-bingo.com to my email address
The hostname (server.sunlight-bingo.com) resolves to 96.0.47.150. It should resolve to 79.170.43.23.( this is the ip of my server) Please be sure to correct /etc/hosts as well as the 'A' entry in zone file for the domain.
I am 110% certain that i do not own sunlight-bingo.com

    Hello,

Go to your root WHM >> search for Hostname >> I guess that is where your problem lies .

Change your server hostname to server.sunlight-bingo.co.uk and add a A record.

Make sure after that you check DNS zone .. Also " add DNS zone" add hostname : server.sunlight-bingo.co.uk in IP : give your server IP
And add your server hostname A record.

    his should fix your problem.

Thanks to webhostuk everything has been fixed and sorted, he is a very nice guy, he wouldn't even let me pay him for his time to fix my problems or let me show my gratitude towards him with a token gift like a voucher for play or amazon so that he could at least treat himself to something.
bottom line is don't get a non managed dedicated server if you dont have a clue what your doing. and pay someone on digital point to set it up.

I know where I will be going once my contract is up with my current host, and any other hosting that I need.

You were very lucky some one was savvy enough to sort that, could have been very expensive.
