This is not a positive one at all, sadly.

The amount of down time has been awful. The following on their home page would be laughable if we didn't have to deal with it:

With our 99.99% uptime guarantee and 24/7 lightening fast support, our customers are proud to be a part of the most trusted and affordable UK hosting company.
They have not managed a single month where they even came close to 99.99% uptime. Thats 4 minutes down time a month... Every single time it was down it was for far more than 4 minutes. 99.99% a day, maybe...

FTP logins repeatedly stop working also, which requires another visit to support to have reset. Sites just stop loading at all, and until you notice and tell support, it stays that way.

Its obvious its amateur hour when dealing with them. We had a hosting agreement which was being paid by Paypal subscription. An email arrives asking why an invoice hasn't been paid. So I then need to go looking into it, because I know there is funds in Paypal so there is no way a payment should have bounced as there was no credit card involved.

Turns out they simply don't know how Paypal subscriptions work, and are emailing asking me about it before the money is even due to come out. Sure enough, later that day the payment clears with no issues whatsoever.

If you want low prices and bad service, they will certainly work for you. If uptime and keeping your site matters, I'd look elsewhere.

    Hello,

Thank you to confirm your review about problems with us ..I will certainly check the problem you faced with us, Will make sure no such review will be again stand against our customer service.

Thank you again,, and would really apologies for all the inconvenience you faced. Certainly you would have posted a ticket to support, FTP issue would have been solved in no time ..which I am sure our support does not lacks. Regarding paypal.. Its just a warning email to customer to confirm they have enough amount in paypal before auto charge, its just to avoid suspension of account for non payment. Its just a good practice to keep customers aware about the invoice and avoid problems.I dont think there is anything odd about warning clients about final date.

Anyways ..thank you to confirm us few thing about our service and this first unsatisfied review about Webhostuk we will surely take this into consideration and make sure its not repeated even if this seems to be minor problem which could have been sorted on chat or Email which we never received.

It seems the OP mentioned having multiple problems with FTP and contacting support about this.

Regarding paypal.. Its just a warning email to customer to confirm they have enough amount in paypal before auto charge, its just to avoid suspension of account for non payment. An email should be sent when the invoice is created containing the due date but I don't think it's good to send a warning email to every client. In most cases the client will already know when the due date is because the invoice reminder will tell them.

Not surprised really, often the one's that shout the loudest (with a questionable grasp of english...) should be avoided. I always recommend nethosted because they really are worth their weight in gold the countless issues they've saved me, stirling support!

Sorry to say, I too have had numerous issues with webhost.uk.net. I moved a number of sites over to the bronze reseller account, largely because of positive reviews on the web and their great price. The first two months were fine - there was some downtime but nothing to worry about too much. Over the last month the service has gone to the dogs, I have lost websites due to hackers getting in thru their control panel (or so it seems), continuously lose FTP and CPANEL access - its a nightmare. They have now installed a mod security change which they say will stop the hacking problem but it pisses me off that they lack honesty. Currently I have a number of client sites down + my own principal site - since 3pm yesterday!! When asked for an update I was told the person dealing is off shift and I'd have to wait until he returns...what kind of service is that!!

Fairplay, their chat system is great if you need a quick turnaround or need sites restoring but if their actual service was more reliable they could probably do away with it. I would NOT recommend this host at the moment.

I second all the bad reviews. Liars, no respect for clients, claim to be UK company but I gave up after 40minutes on hold and admin takes hours to reply to a Critical issue!

Absolutely terrible company, they ruined one of our major websites on transfer to there servers, Is this a company to trust? We doubt very much. They stated in a conversation there would be no problems with moving the website and as thus we purchased a server from them. Upon installation See you in court.

We have already been through all that, including your lies and how you don't provide legal counsel details when requested to do so. Customers of this company should think twice and go elsewhere. I will post some of the messages relating to this. My Comment "Good let me know your legal advisors contact details, so that I can process my claim directly to them as opposed to you" Your Comments "I'm sorry but it's nothing to do with our legal adviser and we'll not be providing any details for the same as per our policy."

A policy of not providing details in the hopes of not dealing with a lawsuit. Your company is obviously not very smart. Makes me wonder if your actually a UK company, Your certainly UK registered. But you seem to have a big difficulty writing in English. very strange that one.

I had a reseller account with webhostuk.net until a few weeks ago. I first signed up for their Linux reseller account last year 2010. Everything was fine until Sep 11 ... then the nightmare started. Web sites hacked. Some hacking scumbag even planted a phishing site. Then webhostuk.net blamed Joomla and Wordpress components for all the issues.

They admitted that a "culprit" had been thrown off the shared reseller server. They up-sold me to VPS and then all sites went down for hours at a time. SMTP wouldn't work and all site rankings plummeted. This is the worst experience of hosting I have ever had and it has put me off being a reseller for life. I’ll stick to web design and let customers host their own sites.

webhostuk.net also try to give the impression that they UK based (the server is) but I don't think the call centre or live help is because the English grammar is questionable... I find this deliberately misleading.

I asked for a refund for the dreadful VPS server; they refused quoting their TOS. They have cause me to lose a few thousand pounds in lost work

So webhost... enjoy your review, it'll cost you more than the refund.

Take my advice resellers and steer well clear.

P.S. I am using Domain Names, Email & Web Hosting, Dedicated Servers, VPS - Fasthosts now and so far, so good. A bit more expensive but worth it

I also had a site down numerous times and every time I asked for help it was never understood correctly. I am now moved to another much more reliable provider (at hardly much extra cost)

Just my 2p's worth as it was very frustrating for me at the time,

I had an absolutely horrendous experience with this shower.
I has shared hosting with them and after my site was attacked, they insisted that I get dedicated hosting with them to protect their other clients.

They assured me that my site would now be protected and yet after just 2 days it was attacked. All in all it was down for 24 days of my 30 day 1st months contract with them and whilst they are fairly quick to respond via online chat, their email support is nothing short of crap. I still have the transcripts from my chats with them where my frustration is apparent but no one seems to be in charge. It's a good job this site wasn't my main source of income.

When I kept asking why my site was down and how long would it would be before it was up again, all they kept replying was, "site attacked". In one day, I received over 30 emails from them but they kept ignoring my requests when I asked for a telephone number...In the end they just kept ignoring my requests for any updates or info at all.

Fortunately I paid by paypal and they found in my favour and refunded me because I showed them the transcripts of my chats/emails.

Webhost UK - Avoid at all costs.

Wow, glad I checked here. I was just weighing up the options and this company was number 2 on my list.

It pays to do your homework it seems.
