  XCalibre hacked

Just had a call to say that they think someone has gained access to my credit card details based on some unecrypted backup file they were holding or something.

I know a few of you use them so you may want to check out if you are affected. Ive had to cancel my credit cards, which is turning into real pain.

Not a good advert for the quality and security of their hosting services.

At least they have the balls to admit it I guess.

Yes, affected me too!

Also, their Tango server had a total hard disk failure on Sunday, and they hadn't backed up any of my sites! I've been spending all day today (and probably the same tomorrow) reinstalling everything!

I guess this is obvious, but I shall be moving away from Xcalibre next month.

Guess I must have been lucky, my site on Tango is OK. Seem to have avoided the credit card fraud as well - although I did get an email changing all my FTP account passwords.

That's interesting to know.......I'll bring that up with them.

I've also had a site on their Duffy server disrupted for four days, and they can't work out what's wrong!

me too, exactly the same... bad one - but I think hacking is more prevalent then you think surely? I wonder how many companies sweep it under the carpet when it happens.

Darren,

I had problems FTPing to one of my other sites over the weekend - can't remember which server it is on (not Tango). It was working , but very slow last night.
