At the moment I'm toying with buying some extra hosting and treating myself to a couple of domains. (Certainly not more than 10)

My understanding is that WordPress 3 replaced WordPress MU and provides all the same multi-blog functionality. Look for a web host that offers WordPress 3 as a one click install would be my advice (like us ).
