  franking-machines.com

ok I'm the proud new owner of franking-machines.com. But I have no idea of value in other people's eyes.

I could make probs at least £100 a day from it but what would someone reasonably pay for it?

That's the problem, you could only sell it to someone who could see the same value in it as you. A company would want frankingmachines.com because they would see that as being cooler as no-one types in the dash however you know your going to get the traffic from SEO and make sales, and that is worth more, but a big company wouldn't understand that (unless you done all the work in advance and said look this makes £100 a day so give me £20,000 and it's yours). As it's all about the brand not about actually making sales these days.

would like to see how many type-ins frankingmachines.com gets coz I don't think it'll be anything like news.com or porn.com etc

I wouldn't imagine it would be great to be honest, but that's not the point with domain names people see value in them that other can't see. Of course some domain names are easy to understand.. For example sex.com well how many people type that in on first getting access to the Internet, I bet it's a few million.

Luke is an unknown quantity at this point
you won't get any type ins with a hypenated domain... unless the site had an existance before you bought it. frankingmachines.com might get type ins however.

I also dont think it would get type ins.
You say you can make £100/day from it, but are you really able to making that money because of that domain name rather than just by making use of skills you have.

For example could you not also make the same sort of money from www.frankingmachines.net, which is available. I expect so, which is why I think the domain is only worth the reg fee.

yes but no but... Lee. you're very lucky then - imagine how many type ins you would be getting if you had the domain without the hyphen!

Have u checked to see if the site had a previous life? Maybe thats where the type ins come from - according to a domain expert I know type ins with a hypehnated domain are extremely rare unless the site had a previous life and punters are revisiting.
