Question Need a quality UK webhost

Our current webhost is useless, with terrible customer support and regular downtime, so we are looking to switch. The sites we will have hosted are not huge money-spinners, so something cheapish but reliable.

Requirements:

(1) Virtual hosting in UK

(2) UK (non-premium-rate) telephone or live online support, for at least 50 hours a week, as well as email support

(3) Support for at least six days a week

(4) Must have at least five people working for it.

(5) Staff must be based in Britain and have English as their mother tongue

(6) Ability to host four domain names with same account

(7) Autoresponders for email addresses

(8) At least five subdomains per domain name

(9) Must have been in business for at least two years

(10) Veriable stats. to prove that they have had more than 99% uptime in the last year

(11) Unix Hosting

(12) Minimum 100 MB storage space

(13) Online control panel (if possible)

(14) Regular back-ups from webhost

Fussy? Yep, but I've written about 100 emails to customer support of my current webhost over the last few months and am sick to death of their lousy service and having to try to explain my problems to people in India who can't converse in fluent English.

Cheers for any recommendations

(6) Ability to host 200 domain names with same account
(12) Minimum 100GB storage space

and i'd need to add
(15) Minimum 1tB Bandwidth

Best UK host I've found is dsvr (dsvr.co.uk), v.professional service - all support is based in the UK (from what I can tell). I have had an account for 3 years and never had a problem. Used them for some simple programming projects and they were hands-down the best I have come across.

I know I'll get shot down for suggesting this, but I've always been happy with Fasthosts.co.uk.

They've got 24/7 telephone support and since I got the load-balanced hosting 6 months ago there's been no downtime whatsoever.

not shooting you down...

i spent 1 month with fasthosts in september last year ... for that month i suffered about 50% downtime...with telephone support arrogantly telling me that they knew about the problem and it was in hand...try explaining that your livelihood...business...and sanity isn't gonna be alright if someone knows theres a problem...and it cost me around £700 for the month...kin idiots...rant over

fasthosts are IMO the worst of the bigger players...

http://www.hostroute.co.uk are brilliant...and cheap...i have a £9 a month reseller account with them...5 domain names...30 subdomains per domain...99.9% uptime guarantee...i won't go on...but i think they fit your bill Azam....try them out...its on a pay-monthly/no-contract basis anyway...

if you wanna have a look at their features without spending anything...PM me and i'll give you access to the system for a day...

Tony

I've personally used www.supanames.co.uk and I think they can accomodate your list of requirements. I recommend them, worth a phonecall.

BenKowaBunga,

I was looking at SupaNames and was quite impressed. Do you know how many domains you can use with each account package, only I don't think it tells you on their site?

I currently have a Premier account with the main url, then I also have another domain name that points to a subdomain on the main url.

Whatever set up you're thinking of having, I'm sure they can do it. The customer service is quick and responsive so just drop them an email or a phonecall.
