Why is it co.uk domains seem to either take years, or sometimes never come up as available, even after the have expired?
There is 1 I am after which expired in Sept 2003 which I am checking regularly and its still not available. Any ideas on how I can get this blasted then or is there someone I can contact without having to use back order websites?
Here are the full details;
Registrant:

Registrant's Agent:
No agent listed. This registration is DETAGGED.
If it says 'DETAGGED' and the domain's past its expiry date, it's usually a few months until it becomes '*** SUSPENDED ***'. That time varies depending on whether it's a pre-nominet name (e.g. doctor.co.uk has been detagged for ageeesss now), a really important name (debatable) or just a normal post-nominet name. Pre-nominet names do not usually have a 'registered on: 1 march 2004' entry.
Once in the suspended phase, it's about 6-8 weeks until it drops, and this is supposed to be random to prevent people predicting the drop date.
Originally posted by misscarolann It also gets on my nerves when big companies buy domain names and don't use them......
skincare.co.uk is owned by Loreal but they dont use it and have no intention of selling it....
I could put it to good use
I have 4skin.co.uk if you could use that
As far as suspended .co.uk domains are concerned, every Monday is Nominets main 'dropping' day followed by a slow trickle of released domains tailing off throughout the rest of the week.
I heard a rumour that suspended names are targetted for release between 40 and 45 days after reaching suspended status.
Seems about right from my experience, but can't put a definetely on that.
What amazes me is the quality of the names that are currently detagged or suspended... buyonline.co.uk and trading.co.uk as a couple of prime examples! ...Also several others that I'll keep to myself
Lately I've been making almost as many £'s selling domain names as I have on my affiliate sites *shameless plug* - got ferrari-driving.co.uk up for sale on ebay at the moment *end shameless plug*
Incedently 4skin.co.uk should, obviously be read as 'for skin' (forskin.co.uk still being available at this moment) It was bought in all innocence for mate with a tattooing site.
